I'm selling my car to someone who lives in QLD. The car is currently registered in Victoria. I believe that the Vehicle Transfer Form that Vic Roads provides is for when the buyer and seller are both in Victoria.

Could someone please tell me the process I'm required to go through?

Thanks.

All you have to do is fill in the transfer papers, send them off with your rego papers ( after you get paid of course) and that's it. If you want you can cancel the rego as the buyer will need to re register it. There is no need to provide a RWC either. Fairly simple procedure as I have bought 2 cars from interstate, and sold 3 motorbikes to interstate buyers. just make sure your backside is covered with regards to payment, date of disposal and free from responsibilty if the car is damaged during transit ( if he is not coming down to pick it up )

Thanks XCLUB. I think I've sorted it out now. Sell it unregistered and get him to call VicRoads to get a "unregistered vehicle permit" so that he can drive it back to QLD.

Thats basically what I did to get a car from Sydney to Canberra. Al the buyer needs is the permit for temporray rego.

Just did this myself. Stamp duty is less in queensland, so he should be happy and you get the refund of victorian rego.
