What a bad few days for the Clubbie.

Firstly...Saturday some low life chucks a few full bottle's of shampoo over the walkway fence. The Clubbie is parked on the other side in secure parking. I now have a dent smack bang in the middle of the boot but thankfully no scratch.

Hence does anyone know of a mobile dent removal person here in Adelaide.

Secondly following a empty truck from a distance. Truck goes over railway lines drops a heap of gravel. Ding ding ding I now have 4 small stone chips on the bonnet.

Help. I have touch up paint which I have tried under the spoiler on a scrape and it matches perfectly. I have isopropyl to clean, a 3mm brush, 2000grit w&D. I know I have to apply a coat and rub back a few times. However how do I get the gloss back?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Paint is red. Clear coat? (unsure, depends who you listen to)

If your are going to get a mobile dent removal person in they may also have the facilities to touch up the bonnet while they are at it.

I know its generally pretty hard to touch up chips etc so they are not noticable but I would try with a chip elsewhere as a trial run before attacking the bonnet - just to make sure.

Vman. Tested the paint colour match which was perfect. Built up a scratch all good. Sanded back now smooth as (did that 5 times). But the paint is dull. It needs some cutting/buffing/finishing but with what i'm not sure.

I did all this on the underside of my front spoiler to test before I attack the bonnet (or not) depending on the results, so you can only see it if it's on a hoist.

Try using Kitten No2 cutting compound, then No1 polishing compound. Then wax with your usual. There may be equivalents in other brands.

You may find that the bonnet will be the hardest to fix chips and still look good. Most times it will require a respray, in which case the dent can be done at the same time.

You should be able to get someone to remove the dent on it's own, depending on where on the bonnet it is. Generally the paintless dent removal needs access from underneath the dent. Some places on the bonnet won't allow that.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Most companies that fix small dents will also fix stone chips.

However, if you want to do it yourself it isn't all that difficult - you already have all the things you need. Basically do the following:

Clean the area well and then using a very fine brush dab some paint into the chip and let it dry. Then using some 2000 grit w&d sandpaper sand the touch up back to smooth (Soak the paper in water overnight to make sure it's nice and wet). Repeat this process of touching up and sanding back until you have the surface level.

At this point the chip location and surrounding will be full of marring, scratches and very dull. Basically here you would ideally use a rotary polisher to remove most of the scratches followed up by a random orbital with descending grades of pad/compound abrasiveness - this will bring back the smooth, clear, gloss. Then follow up with your LSP of choice.
