SPY PHOTOS !!! - (I just dont know what sort of car it is)

A mate was walking through Darling Harbour two days ago, when he was passed by this Left Hand drive vehicle.
Seems mid sized.

For those that dont know Darling Harbour, it is a tourist area. The car was being driven down the pedestrian area. Cars are not allowed there.
It was all very strange considering what happened next.

There was a middle eastern photographer shouting at him "no pictures, no pictures!" when he pulled out his camera.
My mate let fly with a bit of "Its a public place, I can take pictures of what ever I want" and took a shot (albeit the camera man tried to hide the car from the photo).

Seems strange that he didn't want photos being taken, yet he was in a tourist area, where there's bound to be lots of cameras. And driving in amongst pedestrians on a harbour walk way.


The conspiracy theorist in me makes me think they were from the car company (whatever it is) and were taking "spy photos" themselves.
Nothing like drumming up curiosity and a bit of internet interest in your own product.

So thats the only reason i'm posting them here. Its not Holden related. but I might just beat someone to the punch :)

I saw this car getting photographed on the northern approach to the harbour bridge on Sunday morning about 8.20am. The badge wasn't concealed then when I drove passed but couldn't get a good look at it.

The way the tape is would suggest the badge is more elongated east west so to speak than it is round....takes a few brands out of the equation I guess.

originally i thought it could be the VW passat R36 going from the headlights, but i think the lights are a touch too big for that, the grille is different, as is the front bar..

I would have said new Mazda 6 - as they are planning on squaring up the styling - but it wouldnt be left hand drive and still in early concept phase.

The front is reminscent of an r33 skyline I reckon, but its not a Nissan - not really wacking enough to be a Renault.

It also not fancy enough to be any of the major euro brands such as VW.

My guess would be US or Asian sourced. Doesnt look too bad actally.

Much prefer those headlights over the crappy Epica ones!!

Its a chinese rebadge of the late model Nissan Pulsar. Have a look at the side profile,curved c pillar and side moulding of the doors. identicle. dont know what brand though

Yep, it's a Renault. I saw it at Fox Studios on Monday - pulled my camera out and the security guard started having a fit. I didn't really care about the car, just wanted to know what it was, so I said "Well what is it then?"

He said it was some new Renault doing print media ads all over Sydney. :)

All that fuss for a bloody Renault. Who gives a shit?

I bet the back end still looks crap - I can see they still have the soft rounded ass and little spoiler.
