Looking for a VY SS

Hi all,

I want to trade my wife’s VY exec.
Black, Lowered, 17's, tint, etc

I have spent the week on the net looking for a VY SS in car yards in Sydney and just cannot find any around the 26 mark – at all?? In fact, there are bugger all VY’s about at any price that I can find.

My question is, does anyone know of any in the Sydney car yards at the moment? We have 10k and the exec to trade and I would like to do it this weekend (as long as finance comes through by tonight).

to get that price from a dealer would be a bit if a hard ask i reckon - dealer cars here in melbourne are still getting low 30's..

For the money you're better off buying privately - that way you wont have the large dealer mark up.

I thought about private sale and still might if I cant get anything.
Heaps of VY SS's private between 20 -23k. A real nice one at the moment for 21 in Sydney, Red with 71k I think.

At the end of the day, I really dont have the time to private sell, then look for one. That is the main reason I would rather do 1 transaction at a yard. It can all be over and done with in an hour..

Mate im in the same boat. Im looking for a VY SS with lowish k's. Cant find much under $25k in Brisbane. I would have thought that the introduction of the VE would have made prices plumet.

Im looking at Sv8's now great bang for your buck IMHO.

i was in the same hunt for a decent VY SS, pretty distraught on 3 occassions as each a scam: 1 ss owner was overseas - wanted 30% cash deposit, 2nd ss owner didn't want inspected , 3rd vy ss was a "repairable writeoff" (after i did my own Revs check) when owner asked no idea. was eyeing up a trade with a dealer for their 03 VY SS for $24k, got sold that day i drove in to neg.:cussing:

Well after close to over a month with the fantastic support & help from everyone on the LS1 forum :thumbsup: ( Special Thanks to MARKVYII and MarkOne2 & Sime). I've been rewarded & found my new ride - she's a VY HSV CLUBSPORT in excellent condition & what would you know MARKVYII actually knew the car pretty well :yahoo:

So the right car will present itself to you when the time is right, :idea: pm Markone2 who was my next option in buying a VY SS & of course keep checking the Vehicle for sale classified on this very forum.

I was in the same situation about a year ago... looking all over Sydney for a VY SS for a decent price.
Couldn'd find any, seemed as if all the good deals were in QLD and Victoria.
So in the end i found one in QLD that i liked, went up to have a look at it like it and drove it back the same day. Couldn't of been happier!

There is a local dealer here that has a VY 2002 with 67k on the clock. He wants 26990.00 and offered 12k for my 03 exec. I reckon he is dreaming.

I could be onto something in Sydney though and will let you know later on in the week. Rumour is though, a few 03/04 plated VY ss's that are in the range I am loooking at with low k's and extended warranty.

Will also get onto Markone2 to see what options are available.
The need to have 2 SS's in the stable is becoming an obsession!!

I thought the prices would plumet also but now having been in and driven a new ve ssv, I much prefer the vy/vz ss interior. Little things like rear power window switch lights, full rear internal door grabs are completely missing in the ve ssv! The vy/vz ss' are still fine cars both inside and out.

Thanks, I was going to take that advice and go down that path.
I did However, do a deal at a local yard on the VY SS. Got it with new tyres, 6 months rego, 3 year extended warranty and a towbar with a 9k changeover. Total price for the VY was 23.9k. It has 67k on the clock so really, not too bad a deal but more importantly for me, no hassle, just a changeover with cash.

Next - 2 Clubbies and the stable should be complete....;)
