A few days ago I watered the brakes on my VE while they were hot, could this cause pre-wear or damage to the rotors or pads?
I'd like to note that the water was not cold, it was warm.

Thanks.

It could warp them and you wouldn't be the first person that has warped their brakes due to hitting them with a hose after a drive.

cheers

Damn it :banghead: .
So, warped brakes are bad in what way? and would I need to have them replaced? I don't feel that they've lost their braking power.

warp brakes meaning when your press the brakes the steering wheels vibrates or your can a pulse feeling when you apply the brakes ...

If the discs were really hot and you hit them hard with a cold hose you could crack the disc and if you were lucky enough not to crack then you could possibly harden the outer layers of metal that cooled quickly, this could lessen braking efficiency a little and or make your brakes squeal as they would glaze easier with the metal being harder.

However, the fact that it was warm water sounds like you slipped through with the skin of yah nuts as if any of the above happened you would probably notice something was different.

So no, not a good thing to do, a drive without braking much is the best way to cool them.

Cheers

I found the following provided me with enough information about brakes to keep me satisfied for a while:

What about when you get a bit of spray on your discs at the car wash? I've always worried about the effects on that, although it's probably not much worse than driving through rain or a puddle.

It shouldn't be an issue as long as you haven't just gone for a run down some twisties and pulled straight into a car wash. For normal driving it'll be fine.
