View Full Version : New Exhaust on the Clubbie

After much deliberation and research, I have finally had the new exhaust put on the Clubbie - and I am very happy with my choice.
I ended up going with the new Motoline Powersound system - it's certainly not as loud as a DiFilippo, but has a great throaty V8 roar under load. It has a great set of quad tips, and the polished chrome resonators are also a nice touch (even if I'm the only one who knows that they're under the car).
There is no drone in any gear, and the power certainly feels quicker right through the rev range. The only downside is that I can't stop myself from planting the right foot now!
Thanks to Matt and the guys at G&D for a great job on the install, and also to Black Betty on the forums for his helpful advice.
This also means there is a pretty new VE HSV Exhaust system available if anyone is interested.

Never heard of them, sounds like you are happy with them which is good to hear, I know the feeling of trying to keep the foot off the pedal...........good luck.
Any sound clips or vids?

Mine has gone mad, changed the cat back and couldnt help myself putting the boot down.
Then to make it worse I picked the car up 2 weeks ago from cam package being installed so Im in the mid to low 20s at the moment.....just love the noise toooo much.

PhantomR8 .... can you provide more info on the system chosen .... stainless, pipe size, cat back etc. Now that the after glow has subsided .. what do you now think of the end result? Still drone free?? What was the fitted price? Was it worth the bother? Is the misses happy (probably the most important thing to ask).

The exhaust system you are talking about is a great piece of work, check out CHEVS thread re the results from curtis's ve. The result speak for themselves. His car made 245Rwkw with this exhaust and a pod intake set up. No tune as yet.

The system is full stainless steel, 2 1/2 inch, cat back. The original HSV headers have been retained as they are apparently very good headers. There is still no drone, and I'm not expecting that to change. As far as having it changed over, it was a 3 hour job one morning at G&D - not much bother at all. The system itself (and this is my understanding) was developed for the HSV VE's from the ground up, and has some sort of relationship or link to the Remus exhaust systems. The installed cost was $2,200.
As for the big question - is the Missus happy - yes! Mainly because of the absence of any drone, and because it isn't "over the top" from a noise perspective.
Overall, very happy with the end result, and even more so because the new tips retain much of the original look.

Good choice on system, and it sounds like the same one that katlad and I now have and soon to be one more with another VE SS owner getting one too.

Here is a pic of the tips.
