View Full Version : KPM & Exhaust Technology

Well guys It's time i share my experience with KPM Motorsport & Exhaust Technology.

I dropped my car off to KPM for a stage 2 Power upgrade for my SSV, which consisted of:
* 4 into 1 Ceramic Coated Performance Headers
* Full 304 Stainless Steel KPM Premium Exhaust/Custom Hand Built
* Stainless Steel Mega Cats/ Stainless Steel Tips
* KPM Cold Air Induction System
* Full KPM Custom Tune on Dyno

The Exhaust System was developed by KPM but fabricated by Mark at Exhaust Technology, The quality and workmanship that went in to the Exhaust System is A+ (totally awesome).. The fitted a full Twin 3" Stainless System, High Flow Mega Cats , Premium JunBL Mufflers with 3 1/2" quad tips.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t183/MySSV/100_2574.jpg

My SSV then went next door to KPM where they fitted the CAI and did a Custom Dyno Tune for my SSV.
The results went something like this:
Car read 220rwkw on the dyno, with CAI fitted it gave a result of 228rwkw, The exhaust was fitted and then put back on the dyno with a increase of 25rwkw which took the total to 253rwkw.
The KPM finished with a complete Dyno Tune adding another 20rwkw's giving a grand total of 273.3rwkw's (I am no Dyno Expert, and I apologise if i have read the Dyno print out wrong in anyway.)

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t183/MySSV/GregsDyno1.jpg

I am extremely happy with the results, I was a little worried about leaving my car with a company I have never dealt with especially with the money involved but the whole experience with KPM Motorsport & Exhaust Technology was awesome. Every little detail was explained to me so I knew what was going to happen and what to expect, I had previously emailed David at KPM numerous times for info and to get answers to my questions. The customer service provided as good as anywhere.

I have tried to get a little sound file of my new Exhaust System, but it didn't work that well, but hopefully you can get an idea why I am walking around feeling like this :yahoo: :yahoo:.

If anyone would like work or information done to there car, I wouldn't hesitate to give KPM a call or send them a pm as the experience I received should be enjoyed by everyone.

Yeah I can give you a rough figure for each mod.

Edit $900
Full Premium 3" System $3500
CAI $450
Plus gst :cussing:

Give or take a dollar here and there.
Total price to get this System was $5500. As I wanted the Premium Exhaust and Agressive Sound.

The feel of the car now while driving :driving: was well worth the money spent, and the sound.... who needs a stereo. :teach: :werd:

Hope that helps.

Sounds great Greg! I also have a KPM dual 3" but with GTS extractors and cats. Most people who've heard it reckon it sounds great but judging from the sound files yours sounds even better.

I do have a problem with mine though - drone....... :( It's not too bad and I can live with it but drives my wife crazy (which may be a good thing :D ). I wonder if it's because they used Magnaflow mufflers on mine even though David initially said they would be JUNBL like yours. Or maybe it's due to the GTS extractors and cats as Darren DiFilippo said they would drone and I needed to go to his extractors and cats (sales pitch??). Guess I should get back to David and see what he suggests though have run the modifications fund out of money now with everything I've done........... :(

I assume yours is a manual given your great dyno results and those of others with the same setup. I was disappointed when my A6 with GTS extractors, KPM 3" dual system and (Sonny modified) KPM/Tuna CAI only ran 213rwkw (no tune). It did jump to 243rwkw with tune - an amazingly good result from the tune (30kw) compared to what most places are getting on top of exhaust and CAI but still 30kw under what people are getting on different dynos with their manuals. Other results I have seen suggest full Pacies instead of GTS extractors may account for around 5kw of that - maybe the A6 accounts for the rest???

Wonky I'm no expert but I would say the reason your getting drone would be the magnaflow mufflers. I upgraded to Premium Aggressive which changed it from magnaflow to the junbl mufflers. I don't know if the GTS extractors would have much of a difference. but then again the GTS is still a production vehicle and most after market products will shit over standard so maybe some better extractors.

I was looking at about 280rwkw's but there was the slightest hint of pinging for some reason, so David took the timing back to reduce the chance of pinging which left us at 273.3rwkw.

I have very little drone, and none of it is annoying, in fact it makes the down shift even sweeter. Yep I have a manual. And loving it :driving:

Now I just need to figure out how to get to and past the 300rwkw mark, any idea's????

Hi Greg,

nice exhaust,

it would be interesting to hear why Mark used a crossover pipe instead of an x-pipe which is supposed to be so bloody good.

Makes you wonder if they are really as good as the hype. As if they were good i'm sure Mark would have used one.

Maybe this system should be in a picture frame on the wall rather than under a car

I belive for the quality of the system the price is worth every cent.

Well done mate, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with the quality or workmanship that both David from KPM or Mark from ET provide... And if you are disappointed then there is something wrong with you :hide:
