Hi,

Just want find out hopefully from people who already have it on how they are finding the light urban interior

I really want to order it on my Calais V but worried bout how hard it is to keep clean, I feel it gives the car the euro look and also is a great contrast in colour espically on a black or evoke coloured calais.

Thanks

If it's anything like the shale leather in my Senator, it is okay, you just need to keep the cleaning/protection products up to it.

It is difficult with kids though!!!

BTW, I agree, dark exterior with the light interior does look very nice.

Cheers,

Macca

Yeah I had a lighter interior in the VZ Calais we traded for our VE Calais V. Decided to go for the Onyx dark leather and Phantom for the paint.... I hate cleaning the inside as you do have to keep the lighter colours clean as they can get dirty easy. Atleast I only have to worry about keeping the outside paint clean.... One less job to worry about. But we order leather protection to look after the inside. So makes it easier to clean. :)

I looked at getting the Light Urban interior in my WM Caprice (exterior colour Evoke) but then I saw how quickly the carpet mats, seats and door trim were getting dirty on the ones in the dealer's showrooms. The material covered door trims were a major problem as they often get inadvertantly kicked when getting out of the vehicle and the marks are very hard to remove if in light urban. Mats quickly get very dirty too. So went for the dark trim - much easier to keep clean although it makes the vehicle interior very dark with the charcoal roof lining.

yer agree, I have no kids and are very fussy, dark interior is just to dark with dark roofing as well

very 50/50 at moment

I've had mine for about a month now. The biggest issue is the bottoms of the doors and the floor mats. When the dealer delivered it the bottom of the drivers door panel was already marked :cussing: , they cleaned it and its fine now

I ask people who get in it to mind their feet on the doors as they enter and exit- so far its all unmarked. Main reason i bought the "V" was to get the interior...

I love the light interior and the 2 things that everyone who looks at it always comment on is the wheels (20") and the light interior - so far all comments are good.

I ordered the onyx floor mats, car was delivered with the light urban ones and while waiting for the onyx mats the light urban ones got marked when a mate sat in the back seat. It does detract a little in the overall look, but I've found its a practical solution. If only holden did a black carpet option, i've seen another thread in here somewhere where clear plastic floormats are used to cover the mats...

Hope this helps. I'll try to take a couple of photos of the interior if it helps...

Mate, go with a darker interior, seriously. Ive got a WH with the light urban/shale interior & I had a look at it a few days ago. Its filthy. Fingermarks etc everywhere. If you've got a dog or kids. Go black haha. Mud doesn't go with light urban. Im looking at finding a black interior from another WH to swap into mine now. Hope that helps you with you're decision.

I was considering the light interior but after looking at 4 Calais-V with the lighter interiors via test drives or simply at the dealer they all seemed to show up even the smallest marks - if you are fussy with keeping your car clean I don't think it would be an issue but with 2 kids and being the lazy bugger I am I went the darker interior and I think for me it was definitely the correct choice.

I most definatly vote for the dark interior! The light colour looks sweet in the show room but after one week of use by anyone who dosnt take their shoes off to drive it and it will look like a pile of crap. You are buying the V because it drives nice I presume? If so make sure you can enjoy it and not be paranoid about the interior all the time and anoy all your mates and family.

I ended up putting the black rubber matts in, Am careful about touching the door trims etc. Much cooler than the dark interior and does suit the darker outside colours with the light interior. Leather bolsters will age better in the urban as the wear marks start to appear

I've got the light urban in my phantom VE Calais V and it's a nightmare to keep clean. It's on par with black paint, looks awesome when clean but dirty 5 secs later. I'm about to try scotchguarding it, but it still requires constant attention. If you're as picky as I am, it could be the death of you keeping it clean! And I am sounding more and more like my dad as the years go by "don't sit there, put your arese in the glove box or something". It's a hard feeling to beat though when your cruising around in a freshly detailed car on a sunny day!

I've posted several pics of my Calais's interior in various forums on this board if you want to have a sticky at them.

Cheers

Love the light interior.

I've done 250,000km in my Senator, with the light interior, and it's still not horrible.

Makes the interior a much nicer place to be.

As for keeping it clean - well, don't bring mud in on your boots, and you'll be fine!
