Hey guys, new here [first post]

Tryng to find out some info on the Senator Wagons, were they ever produced with the LS1?? and if anyone's bought one recently 'bout how much $$$$ they outlayed. Were they ever made in VTII ??

I know they are a rare vehicle (not many made, 77 in total by my reckoning) but it seems some people have their heads well and truly up their behinds when it comes to selling cars (askin' $25K for a 97 Sen Wagon 5.0l . . . is a bit rich for my likin' - Redbook puts this model between $12 - $16K, even in great nick (which it aint) it can't be worth over $20K with 160K's on it)

Welcome any comments or suggestions

The cheapest I can find is $25k for a VTII LS1 Signature Wagon (119K's on it)

They are very rare and I can only find two for sale at the moment, so I guess they're within there right.

If someone wants it, they'll pay the asking price.

Cheers,
-Rob :)

How's it going mate.

I once was the proud owner of an VTII senator wagon signiture.

It took me months and months to find one , and we found one in Melbourne .

It was a great car and still is from what i hear.

It has the Gen 3 in it , its auto and looked pretty smart.

Colour was Tungston and inside and out was spottless.

It was a sad day when i had to see it go and to take its place is my current ride VY GTS 03.

If you can find one well worth bying as i would have another if i could.

Cheers DUCK..

Best of luck at finding one.

I've got the engine number now, how do I tell if its an LS1 (as as far as I know these are a far superior (and better fuel wise) engine )

Engine No VN662317, is this an LS1

I think LS1 engines start with a "VF". Correct if I'm wrong.

Going by year would be Holden V8.

Build your Own............................................... ..........

Then You get a VZ not a VT.....

If you were to do it sensibly and not stupid like I did could be achieved quite cost effectively...

Cheers

Gen 3 wagons are getting commonish in the second hand market (not HSV) so thats probably not a bad starting point as the Signatures have a fairly major premium - as they should being so rare.

You could then mod to your taste and get close the the HSV price (maybe) and potentially have a much nicer wagon - mine is close except it doesnt have the leather seats and climate control and has a Manta Kit over the full HSV style kit.

But it still wont be the same. They just oooze class, style and presence on the road. You just cant beat the real thing.

Being in Perth you will be paying a higher premium again as I would imagine they are a super rare find over there.

The one you are looking at may be one of the 220I strokers which are the Holden 5.7 - not a bad peice of gear.

Plus at the end of the day all you have is a mockup.

thanks guys, all great input (redoctober, the engine number above is the one in SA for $25K, so no LS1 [the LS1 is the Gen III yeah?)

Anyone here know (or know where to point me) whether the VT Senator Wagon actually rolled out with an LS1 (I'm sure it was an option, but whether any where actually built) and how many . .

I'd hate to buy one with the holden stroker and later find out that I coulda got one with an LS1.

If you find a VT II Senator Wagon, then it's definatly the LS1 as the LS1 was first released in the VT II.
Redbook confirms that the VT II Senator wagon did exist http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/prices.php?key=HSV+99BA

And yerp, the LS1 is the same engine as the GEN III.

Cheers guys

Not many of these beasts around eh??

Anyone know the email address for HSV to ask a few questions 'bout the senator wagons (ie how many in each series, each config etc . .)
