i think it depends on how long the battery is disconnected for, do a search for BCM reset or computer reset, itll tell you everything you need to know. as for the trip computer i dont understand exactly what you mean but i havent heard of anything like that happening.

you have a short time before the settings are lost, its the same as a bcm pcm reset, your loosing power to them. most battery replacement guys hook up little power source to the leads so while changing the battery you don't loose that stuff as well as the radio pin code need to be entered. easy to avoid if they know what they are doing.

but no big deal either if you don't, an occasional reboot clears any crap out.

VNV8,what i mean is if he is going on a trip & sets the trip computer to zero it also resets all the other figures like his overall fuel consumption etc to zero.hope that explains it better.thanks for the replies.i did try a search but nothing that was what i was after came up.

it the same as say a vcr, leave the power off for a while and it looses the clock settings etc. pretty sure VY loose the settings too, zero out. but like i said if the person changing the battery hooks a small power supply to the leads while taking the battery out, then the settings are not lost

This may be irrelevant, but did the radio work straightaway or did he have to enter the security PIN?

Perhaps you overlooked my question, perhaps you didn't, but I am interested to find out if this problem occured because the battery was disconnected or reconnected incorrectly (which caused a computer glitch).

ssgirl2,no i didnt overlook your question, just havent been back on since you posted it.anyway, yes he did need to enter the pin again.no it didnt happen as a result of reconnecting the battery.happens everytime he resets the trip computer.thanks for the replies so far.
