View Full Version : Thinking out loud - LS1 swap, and LS1 into HZ?

Hi guys,

Dad's up for a new car soon, and he's found a really nice, recently restored HZ 1 Tonner which looks the part (lime green, fat chrome 12 slotters etc..) but comes with a paltry 173.

So...of course thoughts turn to conversions. A 308 or SB Chev would obviously be an easier choice...but does anyone know how feasible it'd be to put an LS1 into an HZ? Obviously it's no easy task - wiring, engine mounts, upgraded driveline, etc.... but has anyone done it before, or can anyone guesstimate a rough figure for the conversion (not including the engine or gearbox)?

While I'm at it - what about swapping an LS1 in place of an existing LS1 (VX Commodore)? Roughly how much would that cost (Sonny?)
(Yeah, I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at here ;))

Thanks all. :D

Cheers,
- Febs.

Castlemaine Rod shop / Castlemaine Autoelec for the Engine & g/box mounts
ProVK for the Loom modifcation
Custom made extractors
A Mini Pro fuel system from Tuna would make the converion easier

Martin,

Grab the latest edition of street Holdens presented by GXM.

There's a WB ute with a blown LS1 and 20" rims in it, so it's definitely feasible. Like most things it will just be a matter of crinkle $$$$$$
