I tried searching but couldn't find the answer.

Are there 'things' you can put in your search to narrow the field (like plus signs, asterix etc).

Point in case I have tried to search for VE Engineering mode and returned squillions of results the majority having nothing to do with what I was searching for.

Is there something I am missing which will narrow the search for me?

By the way, still a great forum and my personal favorite. I have learnt heaps over the years thanks to this forum alone

Thanks

VE and engineering = only threads with VE and engineering in them

VE not CAI = VE threads without CAI references

VE or OTRCAI = threads with ve OR otrcai referances.

AND, NOT, OR = will give you more focused search results

just on a side note -

Can there be guidlines as to the subject (title) line actually relating to the subject and not just some "cool" subject (title) line to get our attention.

I have found that some subject (title) lines don't tell you what the thread is about properly.(which can be annoying when looking for something)

NORMALLY, we will update threads with silly titles, or close them. It just depends it a mod happens to notice it.

This has to be the only annoying feature about this site - a feature that unfortunately is determined by 'us' the members. There's nothing worse than seeing titles like "check this out" etc.

You can only hope that people who post in the more serious sections actually try and describe what their post is in reference to, thus helping themselves and other at the same time.
