After driving Holdens for the past 22 years I thought it might be time for me to try another brand, so today I drove a Subaru Liberty 3.0 Spec B with a 6 speed manual. I was quite impressed, but having no knowledge of these cars, can anyone tell me what they know, good or bad!! Also what do you think I should get for my 04 LX8 Adventra with 26,000kms. I know what red book states, but they also state higher kms. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have updated the title of the thread to something a little more relevant, you might want to keep this in mind for the next thread you start.

I've got an 05 Outback 2.5 manual. I know the differences are many but the only beef I have with this car are the leather seats. They are ok for around town driving but are crippling after 2 hours behind the wheel. The rest of the car is sensational, especially on slippery, icy roads

I also am looking at buying one of these in a wagon for the Mrs, Most owners you speak to are happy with them, i have driven i think the 2litre forrester at work, and don't rate them that great (small, but not bad go for a small wagon), my mate has a GT Liberty sedan and goes great for a stocky, not much leg room in the back though, but for young family seem's ok.
Could someone elaberate on the difference between the Liberty and the Outback? Apart from the Outback being a little bit higher.

I love the leather seats in our liberty 2.5 makes my captiva leather seats feel like hard cardboard. Personally i'd wait till the new model as the liberty is at the end of it's cycle and due for a majour update. But then again going on subaru's latest styling cue's the next one might be god awful. The 3.0 is a brilliant car im my opinion with plenty of everything and more.

My missus's dad bought a brand new one last year. It goes like the clappers and holds onto the road really really well. It is finished of really nice too. the Harmon Kandon(spelling) sound system is top notch. I find the leg room in it isnt as great as some other cars, but then again I'm 6'9.
Its got good driveline and orverall its a high quality car. Father in law really did do a lot of research when he was looking for a new car. he is very particular so I have no doubt or hesitation about telling you its a great car. He got teh Wagon version with every feature you can get.
You'll love when you turn it on at night and the needles light up red and do a full rotation sort of thing.

Outback get's flared gaurds, bigger tyres (side wall) which raises ground clearence and helps off road , different front bumper, roof rails and a much nicer two tone light/ black leather interier. Also the cheapest way into the 3.0 ltr.

Outback is raised with wheel flares. Outback 2.5L manual has low range. Liberty 3.0L has manual/auto where Outback 3.0L is auto only with no low range. Outback is wagon only. That's about it I think
