Help!!

For some reason all of a sudden since 2 days ago I haven't been able to view this site. From both of my PC's using IE, Opera and Mozilla the connection times out or it says www.ls1.com.au is unavailable. Every other web page I look at works as per normal.

I am able to post this because I thought I would try an anonymous proxy server and it works!?!?! This is the only way I can view the website.

Can anyone explain why this is? Is my IP address blocked for some reason and if so why??

TIA!

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I just left it overnight and it fixed up.

Has it been going on for long?

Cheers,
-Rob.

Not sure what would he causing this, i was gonna suggest do all the stupid stuff like emtpy you temporary internet files and stuff, but it your trying a different browser and it makes no differences, i doubt thats the problem.

Do me a favour and if your in windows, go START -> RUN -> CMD
This will open a lil black dos window. In here type (without the quotes) "nslookup www.ls1.com.au"

it should come back with something like this the following:

Server: ecsoaksfs01.ecs.local; this will be different
Address: 192.168.100.6

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.ls1.com.au; This should be the same
Address: 207.218.210.98

Let me know how you get on with that, im wondering if your some reason your ISP hasnt picked up the the server is now hosted in the US not Melbourne.

Thanks Ryzz,

Here is what I got. BTW I am running Vista on the laptop and XP on the desktop so don't know if that would affect it??

Server: 101.32.220.203.static.comindico.com.au
Address: 203.220.32.101:53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.ls1.com.au
Address: 207.218.210.98

I have also already emptied Temp files,cookies etc but no change.

So it works with XP and not Vista?

No it doesn't work at all with either OS.

Your PC and ISP is holding onto a cache version of the old DNS. Go to a CMD window and type ipconfig /flushdns and it should rectify itself

To permanently stop your XP based PC from holding onto a failed DNS lookup, create a .reg file with the following text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Dnscache\Parameters]
"NegativeCacheTime"=dword:00000000
"NetFailureCacheTime"=dword:00000000
"NegativeSOACacheTime"=dword:00000000

Save it and double click to add it to the registry. That will ensure it looks for a new entry each time.

DISCLAIMER: I accept no responsibility if it doesn't work or screws up your PC ... use at your own risk

Ok I tried this and it said that;

" The requested operation requires elevation."

Still no joy :confused:

I'm assuming that's on your Vista based PC .... the command should work fine under XP. Man I hate Vista.
To do it in Vista you'll have to temporarily disable UAC (User Access Control). You can re-enable when done

Correct! Will have to try on my XP based pc later. What a nuisance! No idea why it's only me!

Ok still no joy on the Vista laptop after doing all that. Rebooted twice and cleaned cookies,history,cache again. Will try the XP pc later this evening and see if I have better luck.

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Site is fast as ever, if not a little faster since the move.

Ok well I am at a loss of what to do apart from ringing my ISP (Dodo) and seeing if they can shed any light on this.

No solutions have worked on both PC's but thankfully I can still view LS1.com via an anonymous proxy server.

Thanks for your help guys and if you have any more ideas please feel free to send em my way. :)

Cheers.

Alex

Sounds like your ISP is running a transparent proxy and they are VERY slow to update their DNS servers

Capt.LS2, how computer savvy are you?? Would you know (and be comfortable) updating dns settings on your computer/router?

I am finding it much slower than before, its been like this since the move...is there something I can do. All other sites work fine.

Well Ryzz,

I am not an IT guru or anything but have been known to dive in and give it a go without getting myself into too much strife. Give me instructions and I will follow them. :) I will Google it also and see what comes up.

Just ring Dodo.

Who knows, you might get the blonde girl from the ads.
"Talk to me Dodo" mmmmmmm :drool:

It is possible your ISP has cached the dns error pages ... when you get this page try holding shift down then press reload or F5. This will try and tell the up stream proxy to recheck the page. Who is your ISP?

As for the speed, the time between click and page loading will have increased yes. But the time it takes to load images and the page once it starts loading should be just as quick as ever.

Still no luck. I haven't had a chance to ring Dodo yet. Need to put aside a good hour to wait on hold to speak with someone. Thanks for all the assistance :)

Just an update for those that are interested;

It was definately my ISP (Dodo) that was at fault. I was up in Cairns this week and using the Qantas Club wireless I was able to view this site without any problems on my laptop.

I got back down to Sydney again and was back to viewing it via a proxy server. Funnily enough this morning it's working fine again on my Dodo account so they must have pulled their finger out and updated whatever it is they needed to.

Anyway thanks to Ryzz and all else that helped :bow:

Alex.
