sadly the only chance that the F1 coverage would be live in Australia is if it was shown on Foxsports.

The Kennett Govt got this event, made it exciting, & PROMOTED it. On the other hand,the Bracks Govt have done virtually NOTHING to support this event sinse they came to power, other than coming to the event & "being seen" with the right people. No new events, no innovations, virtually no promotion, with the inevitable result that the race has now "lost its shine" & is "stale". Consequently it has also lost heaps of public support. Ecclestone would have certainly detected that.The Bracks Govt haven't got a clue with this sort of event as was evidenced with the recent swimming championships, which were an unmitigated disaster.
So, I reckon it is now a forgone conclusion that Melbourne is going to lose this race--forget about a night race-it will not happen.

Almost an exact mirror of what happened in Adelaide - Adelaide very much wained in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The majority only got re-interested when it was off to Melbourne for 1996 - the 1994 and 1995 were "best" attended because it was "gone" to Albert Park.

Just send it back to SA - we'll add it to the Clipsal 500 w/end - I'm sure we could maybe fit it in on the Satdy night after the V8s but before the granny scooter event LOL. Maybe extend it out so the event starts on the Wednesday instead of Thursday. HAHAHAHAHA. Might be as good as the Le Mans event they held on NYE a while back....

I agree with ya, let SA have it back it was good there, Melbourne was alright for quite sometime, but I haven't bothered going for the past 3 years.

I think iis a great idea to have a night race as long as it is safe for the drivers and spectators. In the end it will not be Melbourne's choice, they will either have to have a night race or loose the GP.
