hey everyone! not sure if this is the correct section or not, let me know if it isnt :)

got stuck into the office chair today, got a few pics here of my progress. got plenty more but i have slow net up on the farm at the moment :)

cost...

-VT/VX front seat - $0
-Office chair base and wheels - $10
-Steel for frame - $0
-Time - took all day!!!

TOTAL COST: $10!!!!

Looking at going further still however - this is where it gets costly!!!

Going to get my mate to trim it all up in some leather, and have the leather extend right down past where the plastic side cover is and the holes are. as for the back and side joins, im unsure what to do here however i reckon i could manufacture something nice to cover it up...

Looking at going for black leather all over with "coupe" or something written in the seat in a bright yellow or something - similar to what was done in my calais.

open to any other suggestions as well... once this ones finished ill either start another one - or perhaps have a go at a rear seat :D ????

Heres a picture of the base and wheels i used:

As you can see here, i cut all the rails off with the angle grinder - the bolts were just too hard to get at:

Heres me cutting up the pieces for the new frame hehe :p

This is a trial fitting - didnt end up using the peice of flat you see in the pic:

Me again - welding up the frame :p

And heres the finished product... so far :D :D :D

also had some issues where the seat cover clips in underneath. i welded my frame straight over those sections so i couldnt the the two side ones on grrrrr!!!!

Dad had an idea to weld a couple pieces of flat on an angle so i could clip them in - thats what i did - and it came up unreal and you can see in the second pic :D

i tried a similar thing with the passengers seat out of the vh. it almost killed me. it was too high, and too top heavy. i'm 6'3" and had to jump up to get on it. then i couldn't get off it without it tipping over.

i realised after i'd done it that i needed to cut the rails off it. didn't want to do that as i might need the seat still. gave up and the seat is in the backroom.

ahh, yeah i bet that is high!

mines a little bit high - but im not that tall - it would be ieal for someone around the 6ft mark :)

if your interested in hocking that old seat off, im willing to take it and pay for freight costs if you like :)

im keen to have a shot at another one :D
