GM ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT MOVES
GM Shanghai Executive VP Chris Gubbey to succeed Denny Mooney
as Chairman and Managing Director of GM Holden

Denny Mooney was today named GM vice president, global vehicle systems and integration based in Detroit, Michigan, in a series of management appointments announced by GM globally. He takes up his new position as of 1 August 2007.

Replacing Mooney as chairman and managing director at GM Holden is Chris Gubbey, who is currently executive vice president of Shanghai General Motors.

Prior to joining Shanghai GM in 2000, Gubbey was manufacturing director and a member of the board of directors of Vauxhall Motors Ltd in the United Kingdom. From 1995 to 1997, he was operations director of GKN Hardy Spicer Ltd. Between 1991 and 1995, Gubbey was assistant general manager of Toyota Motor UK Ltd. He began his automotive industry career in 1979 with Ford Motor Company where he held the positions of assembly manager and process engineering manager.

Gubbey has a bachelor of science degree (with honours) in production engineering from Hatfield Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. He is an honorary citizen of both Shanghai Municipality and Yantai, Shandong.

Denny Mooney has been GM Holden’s chairman and managing director since 1 January 2004 during which period he oversaw the launch of the all new VE Commodore and WM Statesman and Caprice in what was the biggest new car program in Australian automotive history.

He has also been instrumental in realigning GM Holden’s future business strategy to position it as a company with a strong export focus and one which is closely integrated with the GM group globally.

An engineer by background, whilst at GM Holden Mooney also held positions as head of GM Asia Pacific Engineering, a board member of GM Daewoo in Korea, and a member of GM’s Asia Pacific strategy board.

Denny Mooney said, “It has been a privilege to have been involved with such a strong brand as GM Holden. The automotive industry has undergone significant changes in recent years and the passion, skill and dedication of the GM Holden team has created products that are now sold successfully not just in Australia, but all over the world.

“With the launch of the VE Commodore range we saw GM Holden cement its role within GM globally and underline its future as the home of rear wheel drive vehicle development for the company.

“I am very confident in GM Holden’s ability to continue to be successful in the highly competitive global automotive business for years to come.”

Shanghai GM, from which Chris Gubbey joins GM Holden, was founded in 1997, is a 50/50 joint venture of General Motors Corp. and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC). It offers a growing line up of vehicles under the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and Saab nameplates. It became the first Chinese automaker to sell 400,000 vehicles in a calendar year and ended 2006 as the country’s leader in passenger car sales.

The movement of Denny Mooney and Chris Gubbey are among a series of management appointments affecting GM’s global operations, announced today by GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner.
