My RHS was squeaking and I replaced both sides with Nolo urathane type.
The Link rods - where the bushes are starting to wear.
Ball joints on lower part of link are perfect.
Tip:
1) Jackup wheel to lower link from strut bracket
and
Remember the bevel washers face away from the bushes with the more spigotted faces of bushes facing each other.
PS
Man this is just BS that these lasted only 50K
The durability testing at Lang Lang must be pure Marketing wank factor OR they really do try to see that the parts only last the min. required time to save a few lousy cents - more likely.
Ticks me off compared to Japanese vehicles. Eg. T. van was 17.5 years old had close to 300K and had only front weak shock replaced.
I know this is a passenger car but still =
What the hell are the Holden engineers/purchasing departments doing?
If I was living on rough road out bush, man I would hate to think how many bits would have been stuffed by now.
Heck I drive in the City & even the rear upper shock rubbers are nearly chewed thru.
Holden should offer customers a option when buying a new car - Lets call it the $1000.00 "new car premium suspension pivot pack" - where you would get premium rubber or urathane bushes, as after all the time & labour to replaces these is huge compared to the lousy few dollars of the parts during production.
Apologies for being so narky but this sort of penny piching when building products for the masses really ticks me off!
