I used to used it in my sawmilling business , but it is very sticky sh*t
and it attracts dirt etc

Probably good for pulleys in a dust free area but not the best where it is exposed to dirt/dust

Totally agree there. I used it on my VZ (sqeaking belt in the mornings etc) and it made it worse.. It ended up sounding like the belt was tearing off and screaming. Only a little squirt of the stuff was used too. Hate to see what it would be like if they applied it "liberally".

Belt grip works ok on high load belts especially in gangs where one grove is a little more worn than the others, or the drive torque changes direction but it is never a permanent solution. It is certain doom for a micro V belt as it will cause little bits of the belt to come off and get stuck in the pulley grooves. These can be a bugger to clean out and will make the drive vibrate, also wear pulleys unevenly.
The best thing I have found on drive belts that chirp or screech on a car is to run the engine and rub a candle on the belt drive surface. Careful not to let chunks fall into the pulleys, although it does come out after a bit of use. This gives a little lube and normally shuts them up without them rolling over. It has the added advantage of not affecting the rubber or attracting crud.
If you have applied belt grip and you don't have a spare belt to change over try some talcum powder on the drive this should settle it down until another belt is available.
