I remember reading an article about a workshop who had the first 10 second VE, they got the 15" wheels from an omega
With the brakes from an omega...........

you don't need ceramic carbon fibre 483948343mm quad piston hydro automatic space age brakes for a drag car

Think he is reffering to possible clearance issues?

he was refering to "decieve" owned by vx ss on this forum. the brakes were changed to an omega item to allow fitment of a smaller diameter rim and slicks. talk to HPF they did the work on that car. apparently the suspension is fairly good out of the box. also GM motorsport in vic have just got a VE and its apparently hitting the track soon.

I didn't bother with slicks when I had my runs. And I even run with normal tyre pressure, and still run fairly good times.
I got next to no wheelspin so there were no concerns in that dept. The HP going to the back wheels of a standard VE SS A6 doesn't really warrant the use of slicks IMHO. Just turn off the stability control ect, load up the auto to around 1200rpm and push the loud pedal when the time is right.
As the VE has an electronic throttle, there is a time delay between when you push the throttle to when the engine starts to react as well as waiting for the engine to start to do it's thing. Even after loading up the driveline ie stalling up @ about 1200rpm, there was still a time delay between throttle response and engine response. I was also aware of not being able to stall up very much, and didn't know what the RPM ceiling was before the auto went out of it's normal drive mode.
The time delay would probably be nearly twice as long as what you would be getting out of an LS1 setup. Essentially, what it meant was I could safely mash the throttle as the second last yellow lit up (rather than the last yellow), and not have to worry too much about red-lighting.
My best run stats were 0.5608 R/T, 2.1762 (60ft), 5.9530, 9.03431 @ 79.34MPH (mid track), 11.6663, 13.8717 @ 105.21MPH.
And the L98 loves cold air! I reckon a 13.4 is there if the conditions are right... my runs were is 22deg + heat.

22deg HEAT??? You're getting soft down there in Melbourne Nawdy :)
Try 34deg and 90+% humidity up here in Darwin
