Today I fitted my Dba 4000 front rotors with Feroda Ts2000 pads and the Dba standard slotted rear rotors with the factory rear pads retained and what a difference it has made, I have never done a brake upgrade on any of my cars but I think it will be my first mod from now on it really just feels so nice to have the big girl pull up so strongly. The job was quite easy all up and it has amazed me how much better the car stops I can actually feel the car being pulled down ,so now I have the slow to match the go.

A very big thanks to someone who gave me advice and some great price discs and pads (you know who you are).

Did the same on mine with the Ferodo pads all round last year.
Your right Daz, makes a huge difference over the stockers, much
less fade as well. Like any mod though, once you get used
to them and start to push their limits you will want bigger
and better :)

Front discs can be had for around $190 ea they are they 4000 series so they can be used on the track the front pads are around $200 a set, rear discs were $99 ea slotted but not 4000 series just the street series ( rears do very little work so don't spent the $$$) rear pads are the standard holden ones.I did manage to get the front discs and pads very cheap but if you bought everthing new expect

Dba 4000 front slotted =$380
front ferodo pads =$200
rear slotted discs =$198
rear pads already on =$0
Red caliper paint =$15
Black caliper paint =$15

Total =$808

Red paint was for the calipers black I used to paint the new rotors so they dont rust around the hub or the edge of the discs labour was free as I did myself its wasn't all that hard to do.

Slightly cheaper than the harrop 2500 for bigger discs.
Nice one.

Dazvyss - now the setup has been in use for a month what are your thoughts - eg warm up time, squeal/noise if any, dust etc? Looking to slot this type of combo on my VZ so your input is appreciated.

Still very happy with the set up,there is no squeal at all warm up is very quick so far I haven't cained them but day to day driving gives heaps better initial grab and works so much better pulling up quickly.Brake dust is a little worse than stock but very bearable.

Probably a stupid question, but what do you find to be the best way to paint that area around the hub, about 1-1.5cm of the disc is rusted on mine and I'd like to paint but don't want to paint the actual disc or hub...

I was thinking some kinda sticky tape that can bend to mask it up.. any suggestion?

Cheers,
Dan

My set up is using standaard size discs so 17's are fine,15" wheels fit on mine.

I painted the whole rotor black with heat paint and let the pads clean off the paint when I braked.

Agree with Dazvyss...They are a huge upgrade for very little cost.

I don't think you need the rotors though and $450 covered the following (including fitting) for me at F1 about a year ago when they were still around;

TS2000 pads front
TS2000 pads rear
Braided lines front
1ltr Penrite 'Sin' 600f fluid

The difference really was amazing, even on stock rotors. Pedal feel was awesome and they did extremely well at pulling me up from 190km/h+ twice every 1min 33sec on a 33c day for about 40 laps in total, and thats with my Nankang NSII's :p

And with the DBA's they should handle the heat and cleaning better than stock.

My dust is a fair bit worse than stock (almost none with stock) but heaps better than others i've seen.

They squeal occasionally...but I don't mind that...sounds tougher! :p

Wouldn't that cause the paint to flake on the edges when the pad cut through it?

Thanks for the info in this thread, very informative and will guide my brake upgrade.

Now for the question - where best place to get the DBA 4000 rotors, Ferodo TS2000 pads and importantly the braided brake lines - PM me if not comfortable with posting in public - thanks in advance.

Sorry Dazza.....

BTW: are they the dics with the alloy inner cup ?

:worthless:

I dont think the inside is alloy ,the rear are street series Dba's standard Vyss size and the fronts are the 4000 series which can handle some track work, they have the kangaroo paw colling design and made from a different compout metal to take more abuse.I beleive it is the Dba 5000 that have a alloy centre that is removable to the rotor.I could take some pictures but you wont see much through the rim.I had the wheels off on sunday to roll my front gaurds but camera was flat.

Paint didn't flake in just got ground off and they look a treat with rotors all black and calipers red.

Just remember my set up is great for the street and maybe a one off track assault but for regular track work go the Dba500's/HSV/Harrop etc.
