yeah lots of things are 3 letters like maf:smilesandbanana:

also if you use a word of four or more letters then one with 3 after it you can't search either doh. this narrows the search so should be allowed

or if you search doesn't work you still have to wait 30 secs to search again. sorry you can't search on that but wait 30 secs to search again

There is actually an exclude list for words like LS1 and VY etc. but it does not seem to be working .. I am looking into it.

You can always use google. just type in "site:wwwDOTls1DOTcomDOTau hsv maf" in the google search box and it will search for the words hsv AND maf only in wwwDOTls1DOTcomDOTau (substitute the DOTs with . ).

It is particularly difficult to search for cam specs ie. 216 220, and considering you always get told to 'use the search button' when asking about them...Seems a bit pointless....

Chill out dude, I did not realise that your statement about the exclude list had any bearing on the current problem, thought it might have been a separate issue...

I am chilled out ..

This thread is about search strings <= 3 letters. My reply was to the thread subject .. fairly straight forward :p

What i want to know is whether punctuation is counted as a letter?

Cause it wouldn't let me search 3.73...
