Hi,
So far i have got maffless tune, Sureflo OTRCAI, Try-y extractors and twin 2.5" exhaust. Next i was thinking of getting an 80mm throttle body. Has anyone put one of these on there LS1's and if so do they make much of a difference??. I have seen 80mm polished ones by BMI for $450 on ebay which i will probably get if noticeable gains are found from larger TB's. Any input would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Shaun.

Cool looks like a goer. Anyone Heard of BMI before? They look like nice throttle bodys but have never heard of this brand before. At $450 looks like a bargain for a brand new product.

Hey Pillow what size is that Throttle body you have there? BMI said they can supply one to me to fit the LS1 for $550 but its 78mm not 80mm. Also how does it perform did you notice much of an improvement??. Might just go for the 78mm one cause they say it will just bolt straight on. They recon they put it on the dyno and got 10kw increase.
Cheers, Shaun.

hey -HSV- the throttle body you have in those pics does not look like a BBK throttle body I have seen heaps of BBK's B4 and they usually have BBK written on them and look a bit different in general. Are you sure this throttle body is BBK? Also how many KMS has it done.
Cheers, Shaun.

Yep mine is the 78mm. That 10rwkw gain they're talking about was my car - first one fitted in Australia

Ah yeah cool. 1 Last Question is your engine pretty much stock or do you have cam etc.. If so do you think it will still give the same gains with my LS1.
Sorry bout all the Q's just manna make sure im gettin my moneys worth.

Hey, I got a question for yas. Why has the second throttle cable been deleted with the after market TB? Ive seen this on a few pics off different cars. I assumed that the second cable was for cruise control? Am I wrong? Or is it that the pics Ive seen dont have cruise?

Mate, that ain't a bbk item you have.
Where did you buy it? and how much did you pay?
I have a bbk, and they are pretty good.
Can't say i've noticed a difference, but thats due to me getting all my work done at once.
But i can say that with an otr, the intake sound at wot is just amazing.
I brought mine from rebel ss off the forums for $450, that was polished aswell as being brand new.

Ok so im thinking maybe its an earlier model thing? (Than a VY). Cause i see you drive a VX. Then I see this...
my ute has a second throttle cable for the cruise and the bbk 80mm fitted perfect.
I see that the ute is a VU, so why does one need the extra cable and not the other? Anyone know?
Evening,
Folks, please do not think that you need to fork out $400 - $1000 for a throttle body that actually improves performance.
Yes, it will be billett, and look nice and shiney, and have the makers name etc stamped on it, but if you have a dremel, or like myself a local flow engineer, the same or similar gains can be achieved for much, much less.
If your after BLING pay the $'s, but it does not have to be the case.
There is a great thread here on the modification of TB's do a search!
Finally, correct me if I am wrong, the intake for the manifold, if using the LS6 is only 78mm! You can put a 100mm TB on but it will still only flow through a 78mm opening.
Cheers,

Ah, but was the t/b you replaced it with a stocker or a ported and
polished unit? I replaced my stocker whilst still unopened with a
Rebel SS ported and polished stock unit and I also noticed quite
a difference. Mainly in throttle response :)

Cheers for all the input guys definately the best forum i have come across yet. Hoggs i have taken your advice and searched for modification of TB's but cannot seem to find much info on modding throttle bodys. Any idea what the thread is called?. I think $500 for 11rwkw isn't too bad for a bot on mod, still keen to read everything i can b4 i buy it though.
Cheers, Shaun.

Evening,
Here is the link to the information that I referred to.
My TB as I stated was done by a local Flow Engineer who has actually been commended by the manufacturers of FAST intake for the improvements he has been able to gain from their product!!!!

How much do ya want for the TB? I just got $350 for my b'day any chance of gettin it for that.
Cheers, Shaun.
Evening,
Hey PORTER, read my post above and go to the link.
If you are not confident of doing it yourself get a local tech to do it.
Should cost less than $100 and you get to put the other $250 towards mods!
Cheers,
Hogs,:)
