New to the forums, ive just picked up a 2002 VX SS 4A. Planning to have it dyno'd this weekend for a power run. What sort of power do the autos usually make at the rears, ive heard manuals have seen up to 175rwkw im guessing autos would be a little less. Any recommendations where i could have the car dyno'd in Melbourne. Cheers.

Welcome Louie and congrats on the car! My VZ SS A4 was 190rwkw so I'm guessing 170+ depending on how happy the dyno is. Any of the sponsors will do it for you? Which side of Melbourne are you on?

Moorabbin area. Is your VZ SS a 5.7 or 6.0ltr?

My VZ was a 5.7. There are a number of sponsors out this side of Melb. There's Chev's (Carrum Downs), my VZ was tuned by G&D (now in Dandy), plus Horsepower Factory (HPF, Dandy) and APS (Frankston).

My old stock VXSS made 186 RWKW and at the time I thought that was low, but reading other thread's that's not bad compared to other LS1'S.

So do they autos make less than the manuals?

Yep, there's a lot more power loss through the auto box and torque converter. It's especially evident on the VE A6. My car with GTS extractors, dual 3" system, CAI and (problematical?) tune is making barely more than a stock manual. Admittedly my car is very low kms yet compared to the manuals I've seen on the same dyno but it is disappointing...... :bawl: Others have found the same i.e. power down a lot in the A6 compared to the M6.

Well, if I don't beat around the bush the figures I got from the place who have had two goes at tuning it so far were around the 240rwkw mark but on another dyno on which stock manuals ran mid 230s just before me, mine did 212 first day and 219 after retune. Hopefully it will be redone yet again soon as apparently VCM Suite had a bug in it which affected my tune but the figure I was told to expect wasn't even as much as a stock manual. :bawl:

172.5rwkw....not to bad for an auto i guess. Dyno'd at Chev's.
