Clubbie ordered (thanks to all for feedback on color-Evoke it is) and i have ticked the auto box option this time (getting old).
I would love some feedback on the performance/ smoothness/ drivability etc of the new 6 speed auto. Any one had any problems? Any one with an A6 and mods, if so how is the auto holding up?
Ps. Not intended to be an M6 vs A6 thread, just after some genuine feedback.

probably not what you want hear......but mine broke with just 2100kms on the clock and it had not been abused at all, hopefully just one of those things.

Dads got a VE Senator A6 with 7000k's on it now. The gearbox has been perfect from day 1, Its super smooth, fast shifting and always seems to be in the perfect gear when you plant your foot.

Not sure if this has been covered, but anyway. Most motor Writers give big wraps to the Ford A6 and most say considerably better than the A6 in the Holdens.
Having read this many times from different sources, is the Ford Box really that much better or is it one of those things that when pushing a car to the limits by these journos there is a marginal difference.
Would most people in normal driving conditions be very satisfied with the Holen Box. ????

The box is excellent. Sometimes it is a little rough when warming up but then goes ultra smooth. This may be because my car is not run-in yet. I like the fact that it does not easily drop gears and uses the torque to push on in gear (I don’t know whether this is HSV only). The shifts are positive and smooth and fuel consumption is excellent if you drive sensibly. The shifts should be faster in sport mode though. However, the normal mode has almost a manual pause to the shift (I like it but I think many wont) Torque converter assistance is also good and you find yourself amazed at what gear the car is and how much "progress" you are making. I sometimes push the leaver to the left just to see what gear the box is in and I am shocked to see "6" at the bottom. Overall, an excellent unit.
I know the answer re the Ford box but I will not comment to save this thread from the immanent shit fight with Ford people.
