Track conditions pretty bad, water running across turn 12 and mud carried onto the racing line so evryone just tip toeing around, Skaifey in P21

Ute race was a good one.

Brad Jones needs to tone down the F##d bias :bawl: if he's going to make a good commentator.

Go Garth :smilesandbanana:

That would be the lowest GT has qualified to date this season.
Such a great driver however he will be in front in no time at all.
GO GT !!

What a great race. Bumper to bumper. Skaifey takes out race 1 and was out in front for the whole race. Brand new car, first race in it and was setting awesome lap times. What more can I say. HRT have the complete package. :woohoo::woohoo:

Groovers...It wasn't a public holiday here in WA today and therefore I didn't get to see the first race.
Can anybody advise what happened to GT. Started 5th and finished 15th !!
He dropped 23 points to Rick this weekend.

GT burnt his clutch on the start. They held the cars for a long time at max. revs before letting them go...

He got back up to 15th in race 2. He got to 5th in race 3, courtesy of Jamie Whincup being excluded post race. No info on the reason for the penalty yet...

That makes the round results

Great day for Holden!!!

Cheers for that mate.
I just get this feeling that this year is his best chance to take out the championship and things like that happening to him do not help one bit.
Oh well..... off to Darwin we all go....
cheers

Congrats Skaifey....and well done HRT too.
Does anyone know if Todd Kelly was running a new car this weekend too?

From the ABC website.

"Ford's Jamie Whincup had finished third but was later disqualified from race three after stewards found he had used incorrect brake rotors.

Rick Kelly, the series leader, was promoted to third place, while Whincup fell to fifth."

I feel sorry for Rick Kelly .... He has been very successful but I think it is the third time now that he has made it to a 1-3 position and not actually enjoyed standing on the podium after it .

How on earth do you use "incorrect brake rotors?"

Wouldn't you only have the brake rotors of the control type in your possession? WTF?

Exactly!!! V8 site says team admitted the brach when found.....oh you mean those rotors....no sir, they only went on for the third race, we just happen to have them lying around and someone put them on by mistake....Typical fraud teams!

Yeah it's something they will find hard to explain to the public. It is not exactly one of those things where you could make a slight measurement error and be in breach of the rules ie - a thou or 2 over in the cylinder bore measurements and it is slightly over the 5.0 Litre mark for instance.
IMO they can't say that the stewards , TEGA or whoever were picking on them over almost nothing here.

I agree, something is not right here.

If they have done this intentionally, (and what else would it be?) then Whincup should have been heavily penalised.

I heard he was only relagated from 2nd to 5th in the last race, he sound have been disqualified instead !!!! :vpo:

I think he was stripped of his race 3 points wasn't he ? Which took him to 5th for the weekend. I agree that he probably was using the wrong rotors all weekend and disqualifying him would be appropriate IMO. What is being said on the Ford Forums ??? ( I don't go there )

Wait for the full story before getting too excited

That being that while they were running the wrong rotors.. they were last years model.. heavier and no advantage. Still someone stuffed up - and rules is rules.

888 manufacture rotors for sale to other teams etc..

you're not serious are you??? every team in Pit Lane would prefer to run last years package over this years based on how this years are wearing .....

Do you mean other V8 teams or other race teams full stop? eg. Improved Production or other classes like that?

I feel sorry for whoever did make the mistake - I wonder what markings or designations the control type rotor carries compared to last years.

yes i am serious.

then clearly you've misunderstood the difference between what was running on Car 88 this weekend and the current control rotors and the difference in braking power over the course of a race and a weekend. This years control package was aimed at reducing the expenditure ( they are cheaper ) but as all of the front runners are aware its proven to be a false economy as they are using more of them because they are wearing faster than last years control rotors .... in other words last years perform better for longer , whether thats an advantage over a sprint race at a track like EC (which is harder on tyres than brakes ) then only the team insiders would know. Either way 88 have been stupid on this one.

typical bogan response too whilst your on the subject, doyou really wanna open a can of worms

try those years LPR GM etc got caught with "illegal" parts on theres cars?

was a mistake for 888 racing to F### up a good weekend fo them but they did perform well regardless, and well done to skaife
he actually finished a round without wrecking etc and now tops brocky for most round wins.

Lowndes done well to hold his composure he had TWR blocking him left n right and never once bumped em outta the way,HSVDT should take note ;) :flipoff:

stuff like one of your own:

race 3 especially was a good race, good to see 2 holden and 2 fords in the top 4. might put paid to the parity crap.

don't try and tell me what I am or am not trying to do.

to have the wrong rotors at the track where they could be used is absolutely ridiculous. Are rotors changed after every race, or every round? the answer to this question points to where the problem is, back at the workshop where a stock of the old rotors could still be on the shelf and a stuff up occurs (this then means an illegal car was presented and even scrutineering missed it) or were they changed at the track between the races, in which case wtf were old rotors doing in the transporter....
either way it's a mistake that a professional team shouldn't make.

and another one

If it was a Holden Team that did it we would all be crying Cheat.......

and i intend to agree with this qoute

Go figure.. Why the hell wiould team 888 put another rotor brand on the car? Possibly old stock getting mixed up with the newer ones?

Yea this was a awesome weekend, the weather was awesome and the races were even better. One thing i like to mention is cant those filthy pigs give some ppl a break..Soon as i drive in they are out with the radar getting ppl. Then the state of the car parks were so muddy you needed a 4x4 to park so everyone parked on the main rd, so when they come out after the races on Sunday everyone had a ticket on there window...

Bloody lazy pigs couldnt be bother to chase down other ppl, they just rather grab some easy revenue.
