View Full Version : Wheel balance
Can anybody tell me where I can get a decent wheel balance in Canberra? I've had no sucess with Discount Tryes and Beaureparies having to go back 3 or 4 times to get it done right. Just lost a wheel weight on my WL Stato and am not looking forward to the inevitable to-ing and fro-ing and complaints and agruments just to get a decent wheel balance - How hard can it be????

You're joking right ????? for a simple wheel balance.....
They are certainly very good for suspension work etc & I have used them over the years for major work - but I wouldn't make a 5 hour road trip for a wheel balance.

Balancing wheels isn't rocket science but like I said before if they arn't coming to the party look for another cause of the problem. Out of round tyres warped rim incorrect locating ring etc etc.
If you tell the company that there could be a problem with them they may be able to find it . Don't just ask for a wheel balance announce that there seems to be an issue with balancing. These guys do this for a living and see these problems everyday. Some are better than others however.

You would be surprised how hard it is for a tyre place to balance a wheel properly. Down in my area none of the 5 tyre places i have been to could balance anything to save them selves. when ever i get a set of tyres , its off to sydenham. then maybe a rebalance if a weight flys off or when they are half worn. Its a 3 hour round trip for me. same goes for servicing. its just the same with toe & go wheel alignments at the tyre shop. make up your own mind. nothing like trying to balance a wheel on a crappy old balancer with worn yokes etc," yeah mate just balance it to the nearest 150 grams & plaster my beaut mags with weights"

agree. i have had problems with both my Berlina and F6, everytime heasmans has sorted it out.
i have experienced too many places that can't do it right. Never bother anymore. straight to heasmans

do you need an on car incase its your rotors?
never had one done but it might be the go.
Thanks all for the info and address for Heasmans - if I cant get a satisfactory balance in Canb this time around I'll definitely take a quick trip to Syd. As I'm about to drive to Qld it'll be worth the effort to get the balance right.
