We had a nice red ute turn up on a tilt tray last week.

After pulling the motor out, we found some metal filings in the oil as we drained it.

A spun bearing was the culprit. Hours of circiut racing around Queensland raceway took it's toll.

A phone call to our Qld friend and we begin building a nice bit of gear.

Firstly we sourced a nice 6 litre block to begin with

We modified the valley cover to allow allow some better breathing

And fitted a very trick set of heads to cope with a very serious cam shaft

And a one of my favourite set of rockers, care of Comp

And since this ute see's regular track work, we also visited my good mates David and Terry who custom made this for us :)

The 8 throttlebody Hurricane manifold from Harrop's will get fitted tomorrow and then it's off to the engine dyno.

I'm more interested in the sump ??

Ken - Any chance of the guys doing a custom sump for an LSx series engine into a VK for some circuit fun ?? :)

Cheers,
Paul...

Hi Paul,

Was with Sam today, he is playing around with a few new designs for his sumps, I picked up a new one for him to build for me too.

To fit an LX series motor into a vk ? not sure mate, a lot depends on the available space from the engine mount heights / cross member location / steering rack location, etc and how complex you want it to be.

He has the phones going to the machine this week, best give him a call at the workshop on monday when the troops are back on deck.

At least he will be able to give you a price and idea on how easy / hard it will be. Budget some $$ though, they aren't cheap :)

Thanks Ken, i figured they wouldn't be an easy fit... :)

Just tossing up between going LSx engine into a VK for some fun and weighing up options...

Cheers,
Paul...
