Recommended mechanics in Melbourne

Hi all,

I'm new to Melbourne and looking for recommendations on good mechanics around the inner suburbs (I'm in North Melbourne).

I'm looking to get a LS1 (hopefully a VY SS) and initially just after someone that knows what there doing to check it out before buying, then further down the track upgrades etc..

i, and many others here, couldnt find a bad word to say about chev's auto in carrum downs (a sponsor here).
its a bit of a way but you wouldnt be the furthest his customers come from.
he knows the ls1's back to front and has a no bullshit approach to his business and our cars

Thanks brentonsav, I did notice chev's in the sponsor section but I think I'll have trouble getting the the owner to get over there from Caroline Springs for an inspection.

anoth sponsor out there to consider is gm motorsports
the blokes name is phonsy and has a similar rep

i dont think phonsey does servicing etc, just performance stuff, but give him a try any way. i think a member on here works at an ultra tune, maybe see if you can get onto him.
