I like a good burnout but that bores me, whats the point sitting on the spot for that amaount of time. Boring without a few figure 8s and snakies.

some of you older dudes need to chill out a bit on your closed minded opinions on here sometimes.

i say good on him for floggin the shit outta his car. his money he worked for it so let him enjoy doin what he wants with his money.

not everyone wants a nice show car to drive around or just a quatermile king,
everyones different, i personally love floggin the shit outta my car but just dont cause it cost's to much.

he has the money so bring on more burnout pics and vids. also agree a bit of circle work woulda been nice

Totally agree!!

Why would you build a 20K stroker and then not enjoy it?? Those things are built to handle the abuse! Lets not be soft now ... no builds a 300rwkw car to cruise gently to the shops in so they dont hurt it ... :limpy:

Gee ... bet that requires a lot of skill.

If you want to show off your $20K engine do it on the drag strip or a circuit ... burnouts are boring. However, if you are going to do one like that wouldn't you at least point the car into the wind so the smoke goes backwards and doesn't just cover the entire car ???

when doing a burnout like shown above isint it better for the motor to be held at say 6k instead of going up and down the rev range ?
i was once told this at the ls1 nationals

You would be correct.

Loading and unloading the serpentine belt tensioner by getting on and off the throttle runs the risk of skipping the belt.

Once the belt is off --> No water pump --> Big Badda Boom !!! :bawl:

a good stand still shows how tough your car is, not how good your skills are

Ye right buddy, jeesus I used to be able to do standstills for as long as the tyre had air in it in my old vl stocker, guys do em in old datsuns and all kinds of crap, it doesnt show how tuff ur car is at all.

That car is tuff but ur point is way off.

nothin against the video(looks like it was on private prop/or at least not a public road) but a good standstill is better!!! U R KID'N
mix a bit of everything in
standstills are for yanks (static burnouts) and under powered rides but i will still stop to watch a standstill if that is all that is offered.
P.S i am not saying that the car in this video is under powered as i raced (and JUST beat it) at a powercruise in a low 11 second ls1
it is a nice ride

Does skaifey deserve his v8 supercar!
Does benny bray deserve his manaro!
Do you think its a crime to spend $$$$$$$$$$ on your ride and just cruise it or talk about it!
I don't and what one deserves is what they set out to achieve!
Do as you please because if we all had your point of view we still would not know what a drag race/dyno comp/burn out/good time was!!

mate i think you've taken what i wrote the wrong way.

i just dont see why you would spend all that money on a GTS and then modding it up jus to sit on the spot doing a burnout, but that is just my point of view.
sure i give my car a good bootfull, i dont go and do burnouts but that is just how I want to treat my pride and joy.
how can you compare a burnout to what skaifey does on the track mate??

sorry if you took it the wrong way mate

I didn't realise its the same car with the trumpet setup! If it is, that car is an absolute animal, I've seen it many times at the Powercruise events here at QLD raceway.
I am pretty sure this guy didn't build his car to just do static burnouts and I'm pretty sure its not something he does everyday. I would say the video was taken in fun and was probably done with a set of tyres that were probably on their last legs anyway. I can't say I've ever tried to destroy a set of tryes like that before but I'm sure about over 50% of the members here have done a static with a crappy set of tyres.
If it is the same car then the guy is an enthusiast just like many of us. He has built his car to enter into mainstream events such as SummerNats and PowerCruise. I say  to the guy for building a beast like that and using it for what its built for! :headbang:
I for one wish I had that much money!

correct.... everytime I see this guy on the open road he is doing some crazy over/undertake powerslide or buries his boot and fogs it just to show off his power to another V8... good on him (each to their own) - but as I said, I am surprised if I have seen him so many times doing it - that the cops havnt!!

who cares if hes thrashing it. i think he built that motor himself. at the last powercruise in sydney he drove it all the way down from QLD strapped the shit out of it all weekend and drove it back. why build a great motor like that and drive it like a sissy??? i think everyone who said something negative should go out now and instantely post a better video of themsleves

Spot on.

I remember being younger and doing all soughts of burnouts with the brake on thinking how good I was. Then we saw my friends older brother do a power burnout in his Valiant (big block) and light the tyres up, fishtailing for about 100 meters or more whilst accelarting off into the distance. Then I knew what a real burnout was.

I actually think it is a waste of a GTS. Could have saved money by just getting an SS and performing similar mods. Cars like that are not as collectible once you mod them.

LOL dont be jealous now........

That car was probably made to handle anything that could be thrown at it, cant deny it sounded tuff when it rumbled at the end

No use spending all that cash just for it to sit in "show & shine" comps is their? Build to enjoy

Drive it like a rental
