Very impressive driving :headbang:.... but the guys standing scattered around the middle of the track everywhere must be confident that he'll never make a mistake too :stupid: They're standing awfully close to the places where the car would spin across if he lost it ... Yes, I know they're marshalls looking to see if he crosses the lines, but there doesn't seem to be any safety concern

Yes it is. The driver is actually only regarded as an average driver by UK standards.
Interestingly enough a Caterham 7 has the world record for going from 0-100mph-0 of 12.1 seconds, beating the record previously by a Maclaren. Reason it's so fast is the low weight of around 540kgs, which makes the power to weight ratio of between 400-500bhp per tonne depending on the motor. The Caterham company bought the moulds from Lotus when Lotus stopped production as a Lotus 7. Originally it was designed by Colin Chapman as a cheap alternative to racing.

Sure that figure is correct? 0-100mph is only 160Km/h and I know a few turbo Pulsars that can do that(not to mention quite a few LS1's)

That's 0mph to 100mph and back to 0mph. They can do 0-100kph in around 3.5seconds.

I know from a recent article on the Bugatti Veyron had a 0-100-0 of 9.9secs.
60mph....2.5secs
100mph...5.5secs
back to a stop from 100mph in 3.4secs...9.9secs.Total
Sort of makes the Caterham a bit of a SLUG!!!

Those are some awesome figures:bow: In perspective the Bugatti Veyron is around US$1.4 million. The top of the wazza Caterham would probably cost around AU$150,000. In kit form they start at around AU$17,000, but that is a pov pack. These are designed as more of an affordable fun car that can still be driven as a road car.:)

I notice you've got a 427 Cobra Replica. Now they were also an awesome car that gave a lot of other cars a run for their money. It all goes to show you don't need a bucket load of cash to have a lot of fun.:driving:

I would never say Cobras are a cheap option!!!
This Car i'm sure would give 9.9secs a push once it's rebuilt!!! Local Mechanic had car in for a Cam and decided to showboat on Cold tyres.. backed it into a paddock through a fence and a witness said "END OVER END 3 TIMES!!"... And both occupants walked away with a couple of scratches!!

Now that is (or was) one nice looking car!!! Hope you get it back together in even better shape than before.
By cheap I meant relative to the Lambo, Ferrari, Bugatti's of the world. $80,000 is a fair amount of money by anyones standards. Incidently the Caterham copy kit cars can be built in a very good optioned up version for around $50-60,000. The beauty is you can do as much or as little as you want. As for me, at the moment it's just a dream:(
