Thats why its best to use a workshop that has the runs on the board and can supply and fit it all "in house"

You wont get bored mate, there are plenty of cars that need washing there.

You could do a KFC run.

There is also plenty of yellow velvet within walking distance from the workshop.

Hmmm Yellow Velvet...ahhgggg:drool:

thanks Tuna , when Im tuning bikes I hate being watched so Ill stay out of your way unless called on for a Wild Turkey run Subway Run or any other run nominated.

I have mostly folding stuff , and a business cheque for the remainder
hope this is cool.

c u in the am m8 :eyes:

Well this morning at round 9 I dropped the car into Tuna Heaven
and imediately it was wisked onto the dyno for a base run which netted a very nice 230RWKW and 440Nm's.

Then off to the workshop where Garreth (with some assistance from his apprentice Martin) did CAI and Exhaust which by the way is one slick piece of work and as advertised by Tuna made to the same levels as the OEM equipement. It what seemed like a flash , they are bloody fast and experienced at this , the exhaust was bolted up and in place.

The tips look awesome and are spaced and placed to look stock , although the 2.5" diameter gives it away to those in the know , then back over to the dyno for the tune , after a small delay (and more cups of tea for me) we were ready to tune it up and 4 or 5 runs later we netted a 260RWKW 480Nm's run that left us both satisfied.

By the way it sounded like a jumbo jet landing in the shed just unreal , off for a quick drive first Tuna and then me , and the performance is transformed from nice into a tyre biting beast .

The sound is wild and the feel is smooth and fast , the only disapointment for me was the fact that before I drove mine I got to drive the GenTT VE and the performance of that car is on a level Ive never felt before , If you are thinking of outright bang for buck get yourself a TT its is the mod.:eyes:

But apart from trying to compare apples to oranges my car has now the sound and go that a few years ago would have cost big money, and yet on the way home showed the level of knowledge Tuna has by returning better mileage than before.

A big thanks to Tuna and Garreth for the professional  way in which it was done and the many cups of tea I drank , if you have a VE V8 and you want the next level for next to nothing give the boys a ring you wont be disapointed. Now i must go because I can hear the car calling me for a drive ahhh the sound of sweet music of an exhaust you can hear.

hmmm dont know what happened there but two replies have been fused as one :1peek:

dead right redline , taking all day to do it proper just means your car gets unecessarily flogged , Tuna does his development on his own cars not yours and theat means a few runs and max gains are the result , and with my new redline of 6600 and top speed of yeeeeehaaaaa Im now a Tuna Disciple.

Some interesting points in this thread amongst all the entertainment thats for sure :)

We actually own two VE Commodores for research and development work, a Nickel VE SS M6 for the TT program, and a Nickel VE SS-V A6 for our normally aspirated program. Between these cars they have covered 24,000km of testing, have had over 200 individual calibrations, and around 150 combined dyno runs :teach:

Which is why when a customer like Slugg purchases one of our packages it only takes a few runs to customise the already fully developed calibration to his individual vehicle. The serious end of the marketplace wont (and why would they?) accept their $60,000 car being a learning tool and thrashed all day on the dyno for someone elses profit, which is why the big players see investing in research and development vehicles as a very important part of the business

Slugg, or Tuna ... I'm interested to know if the exhaust system has any drone, especially in the 1600 to 1900 rpm region? This seems to be quite a problem area for the VE and one that most exhaust suppliers struggle with. This rev range blonks it right in the 100 kph cruising area too, hence it is critical to get drone eliminated, or at least reduced to a low level.

Good results from basic mods too. Tuna, I like your approach using your car to do the research.

It is a good sign of how a business works when they buy the latest VE and do all the testing on their own cars (guinea pigs) so the customer gets the cream of hundreds of hours of fine tuning. All decent workshops should own a VE.

the note is fine , no drone just a beefy v8 exhaust note thats not too loud to attract mr plod , but by crikey when you boot the old girl now its like hell braking loose fantastic feel of roar and raw power , no match for TT but if you are in Adelaide and you have a VE id be booking in right now before Tuna realises this is good power for little money and raises the price.

I Idle though traffic with ease and the extra torque is felt at every set of traffic lights , it pulls lower with less fuss IE: 4th gear from 900revs smooth as silk , the exhaust gets louder when you step on the pedal but isnt that what we want.

I have no hestation or reservation in recomending to you all this package
is as good as it gets for the money involved , and is done in the most professional way I have seen in my may years of motoring hotups ,
so Get a loan , sell your mum visit the bank or losen the wallets strings
but DO IT , the first time you lay waste to a $80,000 HSV LS2 you will know it was well worth it...

and no im not on the payroll .... I just appreciate good value and good service.

PS... 260RWKW=348.6RWHP

is this your first edited LSx engine?

SLugg
05-07-2007, 09:24 PM
I had the VZ SS L76 (std 225RWKW) before the VE and a VR Clubsport 5.0L (modded 168RWKW) a VN Wagon 5 Speed 5.0L (145RWKW tuned by Tuna) in the last 10 years and even the mods I did to them dosnt hold a candle to the power of these new 6.0Ltrs

so to answer your question only one previous LSx motor but a few hot v8's

OK update time , having spent a few days in the car now I am very impressed by the change in fuel economy fuel use has dropped from drive it nice but cant get it below 15L/100 to drive it normal 13.8l/100 awesome
and when you hoof it it dosnt suck fuel like it used to , but goes better...
Tuna me old son all the boys down at SBP are very impressed (and as were all old farts who have done a bit in our time impressing them aint easy) with the workmanship and sound , and as far as performance goes WOW is an oft heard word. Ive told em about the TT VE and maybe one Sat morn you can visit our workshop and scare the pants of the lads...

So cars great now its off to Mallala on Sat for an open day , not for the cars but the bikes we just fitted a jardine to the 07 GSXR1000 and after a Tunaesque series of 5or so runs on the dyno we netted 167RWHP this thing flies so we will be trying to get under our 1.20 (this bike scares the shite out of you old man) laps.

Martin_D
06-07-2007, 09:21 PM
Hey Slugg I had a GSXR1000 on the dyno today and programmed it with the factory Superbike software (apparently Im accredited for this) and netted 174rwhp at the tread.....game on :)

Gald you love the car, its just the nicest package, my Susan is having tears in her eyes giving it away for an 07 Silverado...such is the price of development

yes it is and I got to drive it , it is breath taking to say the least
wheel spin in any gear at almost any speed and the acceleration blows your mind , enough torque to rotate the planet

UPdate 2 fuel economy has improved round town on average to 14.2 so Tuna has saved me a 1l/100k's so far as most of the time its city driving for me , power and economy I must be dreamin.....P I N C H *ouch* no Im not dreamin...:eyes:
