Hi, anyone used Armaorall leather protector???
DuffMan

I used their wipes once and never again. Left a strange residue and seemed to dry out the surface.
If your after a quick way of cleaning your leather try meguiars rick leather foam. I bought some last weekend and it worked pretty well and was much easier to use than their cream. Also, the cream gets stuck in the perforated leather thats in my model.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Tom

Good Lord.
Put that back on the shelf, and back away slowly... that is, unless you don't actually care about the leather you are supposed to be protecting.
Of all the brands of car-care stuff out there, I would rather buy no-name crap from Coles than use Armour-All...
Neatsfoot oil...
Pure lanolin on a sheepskin buffer...
ANYTHING but Armour-All!

I was always told, to use hot soapy water, with a cap full of kero mixed in.
I dont know how well this works, but there leather is always soft, and looks brilliant.

I use the Meguiar's foam as well and love it - leaves everything looking very clean and softens the leather noticeably. I had the same problem as DuffMan with the cream on perforated leather, but the foam has no issues.

I use Meguiars regularly and it truly works wonders. I get lots of comments on how clean the interior of the car smells and how well looked after the leather appears when I use it!

Windex isn't too bad either.
If you must use a proper cleaner/condition, Meguiars Gold Class (cream or foam) is excellent. Doesn't leave a residue, doesn't leave a smell hanging around, doesn't change the colour of the leather, and doesn't make it slippery.
Mother's Leather Conditioner is expensive rubbish. Makes the leather smell, makes it shiny and slippery, leaves a residue, and darkens the leather.

Zaino Z5 & Z6 here seems good so far but can't comment on long term use.

Hmm, I dunno about Meguiar's not leaving a smell, it sure does in my car. It's not an offensive smell, but it does take a few days for the leather smell to come back after I use it.

You mean Z9 and Z10 don't you? :) Don't know that use body polish on the leather would do it all that good! :D I used Z9/Z10 on my last car for about 6 months before I sold it. Certainly seems to work well and give a lovely leather smell! :yup: Must find time to do this car............
To the original poster - if you do a search on leather and cleaner or conditioner you should find a fair bit of reading from past threads where people have asked similar. Good horse saddle stuff is great too. Saddles can easily cost several thousand dollars (I know from much experience :( ) so people only want the best for them.

Neatsfoot Oil is what I use on my seats in the WH. The leather is soft as & looks brand new. You just leave it on overnight, then wipe over the seats in the morning. It soaks into the leather, moisturises & conditions it. You can buy it from Bunnings - Diggers Neatsfoot Oil $7 for 500ml or 750ml bottle & it'll last for ages.

Yep - good for saddles too, as is Jay-El Beeswax Leather Dressing.

The leather used on a saddle is different to the seats in your car hence you use different products on them. There has been lengthy threads on this before.
Personally i use a mild soap and water mix then some Cebco Leather cleaner. Ive used the zaino, Poorboys, Swissol etc and it all smells good but over time i cant see any difference between any. Keeping the leather clean is more important.

All said and done though, does the modern leather in cars these days really need any treatment or does a warm water wipe down to get the dust off do the job....

I do mine about once a month or so, or when I notice that the leather is starting to feel dirty or losing some lustre.

you guys do understand that the more 'treatments' you do actually makes the leather get dirtier quicker and your destroying your own seats.....
i'll post up some pics tomorrow of what happens.treated Vs un-treated

Are you saying just now and again wipe them with a damp cloth but as a rule leave them be????

if you wipe them over with a choamis (sp?) everytime you wash your car,you wont have any issues.use presole for marks that wont come off.
prepsole is what i use to clean all the markings off the leather after i have finished trimming them.
shiny leather= bad:spew:

Got those pics yet mate?
Used Windex to clean my red leather VY II SS seats. Came up pretty well but will be trying some leather cleaner (not conditioner).
Just another thing, after using a few different off the shelf leather conditioners, it seems to me that conditioners that contain lanolin (in my opinion) wreck your leather by making it shiny and slippery.
When I purchased my VX Calais, I used Meguairs Gold Class conditioner (no lanolin) and it was great. Softened the leather, didn't make it slippery or shiny etc. I used that for about 3 months before giving Mother's Leather Conditioner a try (lanolin) and it was terrible. Darkened the leather (which eventually wore off) and has left it slippery and shiny. I've attacked it with windex and warm soapy water a few times now and it has improved it dramatically.
So basically stay away from anything with lanolin in it (unless you want shiny and slippery leather). I've just purchased a VY II SS red leather interior which i've cleaned with windex and warm soapy water but its feeling a bit dry so I will use a small amount of Meguairs leather conditioner on it every 1-2 months.

Well, I agree with what hsv wagon says about leather conditioners...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/alisterjk/REAR-1.jpg
I treated half the complete rear seat with Mother's Leather Conditioner about four weeks ago now. Can you guess what side was treated?
From April 06 until about April 07, Meguairs Gold Class leather conditioner (does not contain lanolin) was used about once a month without any negative effects. I purchased Mother's Leather Conditioner (contains lanolin) and after one application, that is how my rear seats look today.
Seriously, WTF!?
The only before pic I have is this one, it doesn't show the entire side which was treated with Mother's but you can clearly see that before the treatment with Mother's, it looks normal.
The rear seats since I purchased the car have had pretty much no use.

Yes, it really did.
The reason I only applied it to half the seat was to test the difference it made (I thought it would be beneficial!) and now i'm left half a crap looking rear seat. Ah well, i'm putting in a VY SS red leather interior so this one's for sale!

I heard that a little bit of pure soap like velvet or lux flakes and water was all you need to clean leather. The Mrs' granny used to use it on her white leather seats and they looked brand new after 13 years.
