Hello everyone:),
This is my first post and I hope to be an active contributor in the future. I have been looking through the various posts this past week and just love the contributions.
I have recently purchased a WH Caprice series II and it is an absolute dream to drive, apart from the fact that it's bigger than the titanic :). So that’s my ride.

As for the: To towbar or not to towbar:
I have been given a (brand new in box) genuine Holden 2100kg towbar for the WH Statesman/Caprice. I only tow a 7 x 5 trailer perhaps twice per year. The towbar is about 30kg's. I'm just after a little input on whether any of you feel that I would be justified in adding it to the car, or whether the detriments outweigh the benefits. It’s the box type with removable tongue so it’s quite a neat piece of kit, but I’m in two minds as to whether I should go to the trouble of fitting it.

All the best everyone and thankyou for any input given.

Take care

Depends whether you will actually use it enough to be worthwhile. The only real demerits are extra weight and the sight of it poking out the back. Yes it might be overkill for your needs, but a smaller towbar might only save 10kg's in weight compared to this one, and as you say, this one was cheap.
If you will use it, put it on.
If not, don't add unnecessary weight to the car.
Your call.

Hi Planetdavo and Voodoo,

Thank you for your comments. Voodoo: Thanks for posting a picture. Mine is the same colour as your's and I think the bar looks unobtrusive (as far as a towbar can anyway). Oh, before I forget Voodoo.. I don't think mine has the chrome around the number plate! Was this something you added?? Looks very classy.

Yes Planetdavo.. I do have to weigh up the frequency of use of the bar. I appreciate you bringing to my attention the fact that a lighter weight bar may only save 10k's anyway.

Thanks again for the comments. I do like convenience of being able to tow, although my friends also like knowing that I have a car capable of towing.. I'll ponder a little while longer on this one.

Take care.

The chrome is for the seriesII WH vehicles. Yours would be a series 1. Im in the process of selling mine atm.

Hi Voodoo, I there something more than the badge on the rear that will tell me it's a series one to two?? The badge on the back (bootlid next to driver side tail light) says Caprice Series II. It's a 2001 model so as far as I know it appears to be a series one, but has someone thrown a series II badge on her?? Were any series II's out in 2001 ?? Thanks again.
