Either these things are pretty worthless and I didn't realise, this one has some major flawes, or the seller stuffed up the listing.
Comments?
P.S.
Idid a search and didn't find any related posts, apologies if there are and I missed them.

He states: "Make an offer", it does not mean that he has to sell it.
Its not a regular auction thus the $5000 is an appetiser to get some offers rolling.

It's a hijacked scammer ad.
Saw the same car on another site for over 60 grand from memory.
Definitely B.S.
Steer clear....about to report it to Ebay now.

I just sent a question asking for the VIN to verify the car with Holden. I got this reply within about 2 minutes. Make up your own minds...
Hi !
My name is Will Dott, I'm an US citizen. I was employeed in Australia for a few months but currently I moved back in United States. This has no negative effect on you because shipping is included in the buy it now price and will cost you nothing more.
I must tell you that I`m selling this beautiful car not because I want to but because I have to.
When I moved back to US I didn't realised that the taxes for registering a Australian car in US are very, very high. Also I didn't knew that driving a right-handed car in US (US streets are for left-handed cars) is going to be so hard :)
So I have for sale a remarkable car for those who like to drive and drive. It’s very well maintained. The car has a clear title. No damages, scratches or hidden defects and I have to tell you that the motor runs great !!!
Holden Special Vehicles VN SS Group A buy it now AU $5000
Shipping will be done with DAS insured and will take 3 to 5 days to reach your address. I will pay all shipping and delivery costs (they are included in the buy it now price).
I prefer that our deal to be supervised by eBay. eBay will assign an agent that will receive a AU $2500 deposit and will place it in a trust account until they have confirmation that you accept the car. After you have received and tested the car and then approved the deal they will release the funds to me.
Please send me your eBay id so I will let eBay know that you are interested in the car.
You will receive an email from them instructing you about how to make the payment. They'll release the funds to me only after you receive and inspect the car.
I think that this is a fair way to make business and I hope that you will agree. I don’t touch your money until you receive and inspect the goods.
I really hope that I have kept your attention and your interest is still on, I look forward for any questions that you might have regarding the car.
Regards,
Will

Want to go halves in the car then? You pay the $2500 deposit and I'll pay the rest when the car arrives

He seems to know a little bit about the rarity of the car, ask him exactly how many km's it cant be 70,000km's exactly, also power output it made, and if its a 6 speed manual.
A quick way to make 5k in my opinion.

It's a rort.
Including the freight in the $5K ?
BAH, A container would cost more than $5K from the US.
Whats that saying...if it's too good to be true... :)

It's a well known, well reported scam. Anybody who falls for it deserves to lose their money. You will pay a deposit to what looks like a legitimate Ebay "trust" account and you will never see your money or hear from the seller again.
Today Tonight stuff guys, come on, please. I've got some tins of striped paint here if you want to buy one..... :soap:

Definetly a rort.
Just a way for these scammers to make money the easy way.
Or at the other end of the table, accumulate email address's from car enthuisiasts, that they can sell to Motoring organisations and the likes, or even for their own spamming purposes.
Or an attempt to get your login details, with a fake email from ebay, to your primary ebay registered email address. etc.
Do not message this guy, unless you choose keep your email private tick box.

it cost $3,000 to freight my rx7 up to darwin from melbourne.
so theres no way he'd be making any profit if he sold this for 5k
id you end up getting the vin number?
it cost $3,000 to freight my rx7 up to darwin from melbourne.
so theres no way he'd be making any profit if he sold this for 5k
Since he doesn't actually own a car to sell and he's going to keep your $2500 deposit, it's all profit......
Its bleeding obvious its a scam.
1: He says he is a US Citizen and will ship it from the US free of charge. The ad says "Location: Burwood, Victoria, Australia".
2: If it IS in the US then how does the following statement apply "any inspection is welcome. Please no dreamers, test pilots or stupid offers." Now how are we going to inspect it when its in the US??
3: If he did ship the car back with him to the US, you would (assuming here) have to apply for a permit to import the car ($$$) then you would have to ship it (even more $$$$), the Redbook even values the car @ $16-21k. Now there is no way your going to sell it for $5000 including shipping and even start to think about breaking even on cost!!!

Why don't we start a new thread section dedicated to phony classified, ebay and other car sites......i bet we would fill it in no time

Good find Walks ...
These scams aren't limited to eBay either, I've seen them on CARSguide as well.
With one I've seen previously, VZ SS for $10,000 - owner in UK. I thought it was a scam so I shot off an email to see what would happen and got a similar response to the one in an earlier post, in about 2 mins flat!
It's obviously BS but I do wonder how may ppl have been scammed...?

Good find on the original ad for the VN, good luck to the bloke who got it at that price, seems good to me anyway. I thought the other ad stunk from when I found it, that's why I put it on here, give it some publicity so people know to steer clear of it. Good idea to report it too, if I'd seen the original auction I'd have done the same.
As stated, if it seems too good.........
