Had my Elfin a couple of weeks now, and got off my butt and gave it a bath, and took some very ordinary photos.

Only thing done so far other than ticking through the option list is to stick the sports muffler on with the custom tips. Certainly sounds the business now, and does seem to rev a bit easier, and wakes up the animals (six or so houses away) when I come home.

Really crappy weather in Perth so have only really had a couple of decent days to drive it. Love it though, find myself going into the garage and looking at it.

Anyway this thread is worthless without Piks!

Magnificent Lukkyphil,

How much did she cost?

Love the colour.

What's the dark angular detail on the side skirt in front of the rear wheel?

It's certainly something that I would be continually admiring as well.

More pics.

More pics.

They start at $85K but by the time you tick the option list (adjustable Koni Coilovers/Eibach Springs, two piece rotors, LSD upgrade, Odyssey battery, Sparco flat-bottom wheel, etc) and after getting rorted for WA Stamp Duty & on-roads (bit over $6K) it ends up closer to $100K.

As each car is made to order, you can have pretty much any colour that I think Dulux (??) make. When I went over to Braeside to take delivery/do the Sandown drive day, there was a "Finding Nemo" (Orange/Blue) Clubman being done. But yeah I love the Yellow, and it stands out - mind you did not stop a bloody Hilux tyring to change lanes over me on West Coast Higway this morning.

The Angular detail is actually a black metal mesh grill, if you aint going to road register the car (or you are feeling mighty lucky) you can have side-pipes exit out through the grill.

Will probably head down and talk to the three forum sponsors about heads/cam/tune once the weather is fine enough to not need a sou'wester. Don't think the UD pully is worthwhile as there is only the alternator being driven.

That looks like a lot of fun in your garage. Congrats on the car, I would love to drive one of those. I hope to see some more on the road.

Figured that might have been the case. Before the pics were hosted I missed pic 2 from photobucket and the angle of pic1 made the side pipe exit look a little small.

Everything just 'works' , the rims look great.

Why someone would explore the Nemo colour scheme, each to their own

Looks the goods , nice choice in the yellow as well , really makes it pop :)

How is it to drive , be pretty hairy in the weather this week.

IS the driving compartment ok for those of us who are a little bigger than the norm :)

What a car. That thing with an edit (or a stroker hehe) would be an animal. Time to visit Delco. Does it come with a roof at all?

Any plans for some track work with it?

Looks great mate, must go well as it is !

Maybe we can see you do some circuit work with it, would be great to see what it laps the half track at wanneroo in :>

Pay no attention to the guys giving you ideas for power mods on this car, will be bad for your health mate.... (if it was me go a LSX 454...)

Enjoy it, looks like great fun.

WOW I absolutely love that car! I didn't think they were that expensive though. How is it in terms of drive-ability? I can imagine it lighting up the tyres easily... I'd hate to see how it drives it the wet.

I am 6'1" in the old scale, but I am fairly short in the leg and long in the body, so I have plenty of room, The other private owner in WA is fairly tall 6'3" - 6'4" but seems alot longer in the legs than me, and he was finding it a bit cramped so put in an aluminium race seat, and is happy with that. I think the officail word from Elfin is it suits people up to 6'4", but all depends on how you are put together.

It has ABS and Traction Control, which in this weather is a bit of a godsend, I found myself drifting a bit as I was working through the gears failrly normally, would be ok if you really babied it. Mind you still pretty easy to get it out of shape in the dry.

Yeah I will be talking to Dan I think, he does have a reputation. Will start off with an edit and see how we go.

I believe that there is a soft top being worked on, you would have to be pretty flexible to get in though with it on.

Yeah even stock it is great fun, my missus loves it driving around in it too

Got a drive day coming up at Barbagally (was supposed to be Monday 30/7 but cancelled due to the poor weather forecast), with two other Elfin V8s. Plans are to try out a few Autokhanas, No Limits events, and maybe the odd Hillclimb.

Still want to get a bit of time behind the wheel, and a few more hours on the engine. Smoothness seems the key to getting it to go fairly quick, get a bit heavy handed and you end up swapping ends, totally different to my most recent cars (WRXs). They would be nearly as quick point to point, but are totally lacking in soul, and the fun factor just does not compare.

Congratulations Phil - I love it. Great colour choice too. That could be a bit of a handful in the wet though I'd reckon - just be careful and make sure you keep it on the island ;). I wonder if you can talk to Dan at Chipmaster and see if he can tweak the PCM so that if the humidity reaches 99% it will only allow 30% throttle...

I have never seen another members car and been really jealous..... until now.
Absolutly magnificient vehicle.
An exhaust and tune is always a good idea but anyone contemplating a cam/stroker/FI in one of these would either need some serious cojones or require some psychiartic help!
I have some questions, do the Clubmans and Streamliners run standard gearing or are 3.7/3.9 an option? What options were available? Does the T56 use the standard Holden shifter or have they sourced another type?
Congrats on your toy.

Absolutely  it and great choice of colour too.

I was lucky enough to drive a Caterham Super Seven for a couple of weeks...talk about set of your pants driving! A bit scary in heavy traffic, but had a ball with it.

They do run standard gearing by default, but as each one is made to order, I can't see it being a problem, a gent who picked up his Streamliner at the same time as me had had everything chromed/polished, flash cabin trim, and the engine cammed/exhaust tweaked and running 310 Flywheel KW.

At the drive day at Sandown, a gent drove the Streamliner with the same engine spec (310KW) managed to crack 300kph on the main straight with a passenger. I only managed one full lap in the standard Clubman before having to leave for the airport, but was only about 260kph, I did drive the Streamliner in the slalom, and it did go sideways very nicely when you wanted, and yes you could really feel the extra 200kg weight). So that level of power is probably a fairly decent option.

The bullett website has pictures of a Elfin Clubman with Supercharger making some fairly decent numbers. Would be a bit of a tyre eater I reckon.

There will be one of these in Kalgoorlie shortly, customer saw it coming back from a test drive when he bought his new Grange so he ordered both (customer is waiting for it to be built) and customer has already been in with his wish list, after reading the spec's on it I'm not sure how he is going to fit in it as he is 6'4 and very broad across the shoulders, but i'm sure he will find a way.

Nice ride, and I like the Yellow, if your going to drive one of these you might aswell stand out doing it.

Geez between the engine/transmission tunnel/exhaust it gets pretty warm around the legs - would not want to be out in the Kal heat for too long. Does keep you plenty warm at night though.

6'4" - might be OK if not too long in the leg. Breadth across the shoulders is OK - as long as it don't extend down to your butt. That said I aint a lightweight and still find a comfortable fit. The first couple of times you get in you struggle a bit, but after you work out the knack it is easy as pie, and people stop laughing at you.

As for the colour, the visibility doesn't really seem to help much, I am driving it like I ride a bike, you build up speed so quick people look (giving them the benefit of the doubt), don't see you, or just don't think you will be there, and just pull out in front of you and you ending up throwing out the anchors, and grazing your knuckles on the ground to slow down.

The gent who you refered to who had the cam/exhaust/ tune in his Streamliner should be running anywhere from
250 - 300kw at the treads let alone the flywheel!
My cammed commodore @ 1700kg is impressive.... shoehorned into something like the Streamliner or Clubman is absurd.... but in the good way.
I do remember reading that the standard exhaust Elfin were using (to pass ADR's) would move 3 inches backwards under acceleration due to its restrictive nature.
I think 3.9 gear, RIP Shift and Tex clutch are in your immediate future. Use the search.
Any additional pictures of your beauty it would be greatly appreciated. It is the ultimate LS1 after all!

Saw Dan @ Chipmaster today.

Curiosly enough the tune in the Elfin is MAFless tune used by Holden for the Pontiac GTO's that they were shipping to the US, which were supposed to be what 265KW? Dan will be tuning it next week sometime, and having Dual Spark tables will be a nice thing - With a 40L tank I could easily get stuck without premuim fuel.

Made 218KW first run and 214KW the second time round. Dan's comments were that the exhaust and the airbox were going to be major limitations. Will look at headers and going to side pipes - might as well shit the neighbours off good and proper. The airbox will be an issue though, and will bear some thought

Dunno about the Diff gears I have the car as a bit of a weekender and plan on doing a few No-Limits events and Autokhanas, and I am already snatching through the gears quick enough. No slipping on the clutch yet, but I suppose launching 900KG is alot less wear and tear than launching 1700KGs, If it starts to slip it will be time for the Tex Clutch. The RIP-shifter I want to have a bit of a feel of, the Gear throw currently is not in the same league as the Suby STi 6-speed (no surprise really).

There is going to be some fine pieces of machinery there and one more would be great

Hi Phil,

I recently purchased a Orange Elfin MS8 Clubman. And therefore as a fellow elfin owner was wondering about the specifics re the engine work you had done. Ie. Cam, type of tune and headers...and also was it worth doing? Did you get anywhere with the Air intake - it looks like it could be an issue.

I know Elfin want $5K for their 300kw upgrade package mainly cause its a Engine out job supposedly. Does this sound right to you!? Did you have to hoist the engine out for your upgrades?

Was thinking along the lines of taking it to one of the forum sponsors and getting them to fettle it instead.

Cheers

Joshua.
