G'day, can't go wrong with a VY Clubby :)
Did you have to drill holes to fit the strut brace? I don't think mine has enough.

Hi,
VY Clubbys are the business. Mean looking compared to the VZ.
Wit the strut brace in VY Series 1 they already have the two threads coming up out of the top of the strut tower on both sides. Holden sells the strut brace and i picked mine up for $40 bucks.. they will sell you the nuts to fit it for a $1.00 a nut, i went to repco and bought a packet of 15 for $5.00 does the same thing.
Cheers

Hi there mate,

hehe... i took my "i just want one" sticker off mine pretty well straight away. the more i looked at it the more it annoyed me!
it had to go!
but how good is it... you've got a HSV... some places you go you will be looked at like some kind of celebrity... others you won't get a second glance.
but you'll be very happy with it mate...
start modding it :eyes:

Noice, yeah most of the time i get the glances and celebrity treatment, but the attraction from the law is ridiciouls. One copper has actually warned me for nothing and then finished off with "better take your dads car home son". Ha, i got out of the car and just laughed at him. Made a complaint and well he was in a bit of trouble.
Modding has begun. Once i can post links and pictures i will share it with you all.
Best thing i have ever bought.

Can't wait to see your pics.
Some people will always see a young person (male or female) in a good car an assume it can't be there's...
I have a VX Clubby and think its great but I do love the VY Clubby's, especially the updated interior and more intergrated HSV badgework and bodykit

The early VY Series I Clubby's didn't get the studs on the towers, you will have to drill holes and use nuts and bolts....

Nah, I had a decent one in my VT - 2 12" subs etc etc but I prefer to listen to the 8 now :) One day I'll probably upgrade the speakers and add an amp but I quite enjoy having boot space now too.

Yeah i know what your saying. With the exhaust all i seem to do is have the widows down and listen to the note. My old man was following me down the street, i put the mickie up it and all he heard was thumping V8. He was jealous. In the cabin its not loud but apparently outside the car its pretty loud. Im never outside the car when its going anywhere. Thank god for that.

Believe it, i have the standard headers and 2/1'4 with hiflow cats and straight pipes out the rear with twins 2/1'4 outlets. its the standard HSV exhaust with straight pipes at the rear. I havent really had the money yet, still saving for a new full system. I was speaking with Mark from Power Torque Engines @ Brendale, he said what i have done will be sufficent for a mafless tune and a few other mods. Unless your looking for some serious power then go the full, i was after the note and making it sound like a V8. Its definatley made a difference.
With the K&N Filter in the standard airbox, top gun 8mm leads, Bosch hi-performance sparkplugs $45.00 dollars a plug (i didnt pay that thanks to a mate @ Repco $13.00 each, oh yeah). Im working on bang for my buck.

Best thing I ever did was put a Sureflo 3.5" single Medium system on my clubby, sounds so deep and tough yet near silent inside when cruising, gets plenty of looks as most people around here have redback twin 2.5" systems and they all sound the same.

Just a question... they're not the standard binnicles are they?
VYClubbie_22

Nah there not the standard. Its a ss induction pod $89.90. The guages are autometer air/fuel ratio and volts.
Something different.

Nice ride.... lover that colour.
VYClubbie_22
07-08-2007, 08:51 PM
Thanks, alot of people say that color is not that good, but i love it, also its different to your reds. blacks. Thats all people want these days is black or red.
Well the stereo is under way. Rears are done in the parcel shelf, with the grills, the monoblock is mounted, amp power cable is run from the engine bay, through the cabin and into the boot. RH Side 6.5'' split is mounted in the factory possies. all i have left to do is the LH 6.5'' split, mount the 2 channel for the splits and run my rca and spearker wire down the LH side to the front. I found it easier to do all the running of the cables and mounting everything myself and then pay someone to install my head unit. at least i know how it has been done and where everthing is. Once i get the pictures onto the computer i will post them. It should go pretty hard.
also i have bought some new tyres. I couldnt pass this one up. 235/40 R18 which is specified for my car, Bridgestone Potenza S03 Brand New. RRP $459 each. The complete set $200. One of my suppliers has a client who got a container load in and has done me a sweet deal. Saves me $1600. My tyre guy said to buy a set for him to. He is jealous. :burnout::burnout::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Allo All,
just a quick up date, i finally got the stereo finished. holy C#^p. Its a bloody mission.
The TV missed out this time. But this install in basic Version 1.0 i call it. The subs, monoblock, slipts, 2 channel and the 6x9's are in. It came up pretty sweet. Man it hammers. Its awesome now, cruising in a clubbie with the noise outside and now the noise inside.

Its all fixed. The dash is now working. It had something to do with the main loom. It forced the computer (brains) to think that everthing was off and the seatbelt was on. I was lucky cause when that happens the computer normally locks out the gearbox and wont allow the auto to change. My mechainc is a bloody genius. The computer was fine, it was the plug behind the dash. The wires needed recrimping and it allowed the computer to be flashed and reset. Its working 100%, got it back last night. 2 weeks is a long time to wait.

Thanks man, i really like it, its coming along really well, still got more things to do to it.
Yeah, i have had it nearly 12months. I got it at a really good price. for mine only being a Clubsport privately was around $36,000. I bought mine from Motorama Springwood, it was listed at $35,990 plus on roads, it was that price because it had been there for three months. I knew the previous owner which was my old boss. I knew that it had been looked after and babied when he owned it. Im the second owner. he traded it for $32,000 I picked it up for $32,000 drive away and it only had 66000kms on the clock.
:)
Mine is an 03 june VY1 and it had the bolts in the strut towers too. It cost me $40 bucks for the srtut brace. :)

For today i got the air box modification done. same as a cold air induction kit but done by them. they do all the dyno running for the best gain of air flow, i already have a K&N filter and tomorrow my GTS300 intake pipe comes in, then on saturday i can fit that.
You hear that thing sucking in the air. when you get up about 3000rpm in second through 3rd it has some great pulling power. awesome, love it.
Trying to chase down some 3.45 diff gears. Anyone know where i can get them????

Hi everyone, long time no speak.
Hope all enjoyed christmas and new year.:xmas: hopefully not too many sore heads foe the 1st jan :spew:. hehe
Not much has happened to the car since last post. Spent 2 weeks in new zealand with my sis who moved over there to work as a nurse at the auckland childrens hospital. Now that the trip is over and done and dusted can finally send funds to the car. Woohoo.
Late last year got it out and got some snaps of the car up at mooloolaba. hopofully spelt that right. here are the pics.

Well tonight i headed out to test & tune at willowbank raceway. First time running at the drags. It was bloody excellent. I got 6 runs in, which i was happy about. My very first run i ran a 15.053 @ 95.04 mph. i was stoked because i flogged a full worked XF falcon which was all noise. He ran a 17.249 @ 83.06 mph, i asked him afterwards what was wrong. he said nothing. :)
Second run i was racing my mates very quick turbo front wheel drive celica/ i ran a 14.757 @ 98.00mph.
Third run i raced R33 skyline. After talking to him before the race, he said he had this this and this done and it runs 14 flats. as usual i was like 'sure mate, we will see after we have had our run'. My stock VY ran my best time of 14.472 @ 96.75 mph. The skyline ran 14.998 @ 96.32 mph. Along way off `4 flat. I thought he was full of something. maybe him self. :)
forth run was 14.560 @98.30 mph, fifth was 14.575 @ 98.73 mph
sixth was 14.927 @ 97.83 mph with wheel spin down the track after launch. This is where i stopped. the track was turning shit, heaps of people started having traction problems and times became pretty shit. overall im stoked with my times. for a first time on the track too. Got some wicked photos that my mate took for me. Will be able to post them up tomorrow.
:):):) Overall great night. best bit would have to be warming the tyres up. got good smoke :bow: praise the tyre smoke gods. lol
