Hi There,

In the market for some 19" tyres and was quoted $300 a corner for Marangoni Mythos. They're an Italian made tyre and apparently comparable to Pirelli's. They have only been available in Aus for the past 6 months.

I was wondering if anyone's got a set of these or heard anything about them, positive or negative. I did a bit of research on them (nothing on them on LS1.com.au) and I haven't heard anything but good things about them. I'm seriously considering giving them a try, but I'd like to know a little more about them if possible

dont know much about them, but i got new tyres today and the salesman was telling me that they are one of the best tyres..something about stronger rubber on the outsides to resist wear..

i was also keen to give them a go, but couldnt afford $460 per tyre.. =(

The Mythos has won the Motor mag tyre test this year.

Which dealer did you get a price from? I need a couple of new rubber bands, and these sound like a good thing for the money.

Yeah i've had the marigoni on my car for about the past 6months, seem a very good tyre for the price. i paid between $1100-$1200 for 245/19's, they certainly are a very wide 245 tyre, as they scrub a little in the back now, whereas my old falkens wouldn't. they are very good in the wet & dry and i cannot fault them in any way.

cheers

First impressions after a few days with these tyres:
* Smoother and quieter than previous Pirelli's
* Great straight line performance (accel + breaking), wet or dry

I haven't run them around the track yet, but based on Motors review I assume they will be great performers there too.

They seem to be exceptionally good value for money. Hopefully the pricing isn't introductory only.

Does anyone know of any places that stock the Marangonis in Sydney at prices comparable to what you guys are quoting?

I found one place that has them, but they are asking $350/tyre for the same size you guys are talkig about (245/35/R19)

Also: those of you who've had them for a while, do you still like them? Are they running/wearing ok?

Thanks!
Penny

$350/tyre is a bit rich. I paid $250 each for a set of 4, fitted.

I think they are awesome in terms of noise and handling, for the money. As for wear, I have no idea. I suspect they wont last long, but you can't have it all in this price bracket.

The one problem I have noticed is they do scrub at the front at full lock on my standard height Maloo. They seem to be a very wide 245, so maybe consider sticking with 235's at the front.

I paid $300 each for 2 for 19 inch..was originally after pirellis as I wanted to keep all the tyres the same brand. This was from the tyre factory in sunshine vic..he was conning me into buying them n showed me the motor magazine as well n said it beat bridgestone potenza. So far cant really tell how good they are but no problems.
