Hi, new to the site. Just taken delivery of a VZ SS. Got rid of a Ford XR (gave me so much trouble ..one big headache!)
Can anyone advise me on how I can beef up the security on a VZ SS.
I know at the end of the day there's probably no foolproof system but if theres something extra apart from the standard protection that comes with it to slow them down,..im interested.

Don't Park it around bankstown. You should be fine.
you don't live in bankstown do you

On a serious note, you can get aftermarket security systems pretty cheap.
My first car, a vx, had a $600 dearler fitted aftermarket system that had the works. If i recall correctely the brand was repeller or something. some of the features of that one were,
secondary immobiliser
shock sensors to detect broken windows
even bloody motion sensors inside the cabin

Hey...rayrala thanks for the website link but you could have just stopped there...goodbye !!

It appears theres not much I can do from the replies. More to the point:If anyone out there can give me some recommendations in Sydney who fit add on aftermarket security systems that would be great. I have heard solenoid immobilisors (??) are great. Anyone know about these and who fits them? Any advice much appreciated.

my vx ss has a dealer fitted stinger system.
works well, i havent broken a window and seen if it works yet though.

all i know is it has gone nuts on me on two occassions. the first when i opened it using my hand and lifting the internal lock with the window down and another when i gave my rear tyre the old leg push to check pressure. there are plenty of systems around, and also consider satellite tracking as that is cheap now and you get a nice insurance discount.

There are plenty of systems available mate, Dynamco, Autowatch, Laserline Car Alarms and Vision Security are just a few on the market, just ask for an alarm upgrade at your local auto sparky shop who does alarms, you can get add ons such as tilt/level sensors, glass break sensor, microwave sensors, etc, etc, etc. Sat tracking is available if you don't mind the extra cost.

Its a module that works in unison with your factory system so there is no need for extra emitters on your keys, it just works off your factory car key

hope that helps :D

Hi,

Speak to CarlFST60L, if you email him on carl@rhino.com.au he will send you a flyer he is a member here, I will be contacting him soon to get my GTS done. Putting in a system that SMS's changes in alarm state etc. You also get Tilt sensor, internal microwave, internal screamer, fuel cut relay for remote immoblise, the alarm has shock, glass and all points of entry, this all works of your factory alarm.

It is an alarm upgrade package that works with your standard remote keys.

I know there are ways to bypass the system, l know someone who liked to brag about it, if someone really wants to steal it, no alarm will stop them, they'll just break into your house and take your keys, god help them if they try though :lmao:
