have a vs clubbie 185kw auto and thinking of putting twin throts on it ,i would leave the motor as is now and maybe latter do some more work to it.
does anyone know what type of power gains i could get from this set up :)

You probably wouldn't really see a gain as when stock these motors get enough air, Just. However if you Raise the comp and add a bigger cam it will certainly come in handy.

I cant see much of a gain on the TTB setup unless your running a Decent came and some head work or Stroker.

The standard throttle body on the old 5.0 FI was very restrictive, good gains can be made with a twin throttle body conversion. (The only one's I know of are the Group A or the Motec both of which are rare and expensive). Starr performance used to do an exchange manifold with a larger diameter throttle body but not too sure if it still available. With a good exhaust and one of the above manifolds it is not unrealistic to get about 190 to 200 fwkw(with a tune). But personally if I was going to the trouble of changing the manifold I’d wack in a lumpier cam at the same time to really take advantage of the extra breathing, fit some roller rockers and stiffer valve spring so you can rev it a bit harder and low 200 fwkw should be easily obtainable. I have a real soft spot for the old 5.0 was the first v8 I ever owned and built a tidy VL sleeper with supra 5 speed many years ago.

hey i'm not sure about the rules for posting links but have a look at this twin throttle setup on ebay for the 5.0L.

looks pretty good....

I hooked a boost gauge into my inlet manifold and at WOT 5500rpm I have 100kpa (atmosheric) in the manifold. So on a standard motor the standard TB is not restrictive.

thanks for the info guys ,will go for the cam and chip set up i think and come racing have a good twin throttle set up so i might go for them and keep going from there:)

My brother ran a 14.1 (probably a bit more in it) in his vn ss. cam ONLY, cat back, 3.9's and 3000 stall.
Standard manifold is sufficiant for a mild street engine (5.0). IMHO
A mate of mine has a 355 with the COME twin throttles, and they are good (read OK), but you will need to spend some $$$ on the inlet before the throttle as that poses a restriction… made an extra 20rwkw just buy taking it off, It is rubbish…

the inlet itself would it be better to go straight over the the radiator than useing the standard hsv set up:)

Not aware of anyone that has made an OTR to fit a 5L as the TB is on the side of the motor, not the front like the LS1's.

if you had the come racing twin throtts you could get some thing made up as they are at the front :)

I dont believe OTR though, the rad support and rad is pretty high on the VN-S shapes.
