Hey,

I ordered a set of Akrapovic cans for the 10 last week and they turned up today. Also, she had her first service today. Soon as I got home, straight to the garage and on they went! Took about an hour and a half including smokos but theyre all done. Had a K&N filter put in whist being serviced also. Ended up putting the Motul 300V oil in and yeah she is a bit noisier in the engine but my mate who works there recommended it for me so i gotta trust him. Big thanks to the apprentice who caked the chain in silkolene gel. Shits everywhere now! It will be called "flickolene" from now on!

HOLY FU#$ING JESUS!!!! I knew she was quick but the last week or two Ive been feeling that she had lost a bit of pull.. NOT ANYMORE!!!! The service made a bit of a difference, mainly making the bike feel smoother and tighter but soon as the pipes were on, took off for a quick blast down to the beach and the difference was staggering!! She pull FU#$ING hard from the lights now and the doughy low down grunt of the ZX10 has been fully restored! And then some!!! I thought they would make a little bit of a difference but had never imagined this! And the sound......that sweet akra sound.....

Anyways, charging the digi cam at the moment to post up some pics but just thought id share my thoughts!! Still got adrenaline shakes right now....

Also, im amazed at how quick purchasing things from the US is. I literally clicked the "buy now" button last monday at about 11pm. They turned up this after noon at 4. 7 day turn around from the states!! Not bad. Got quoted $2000 for the same pipes to buy locally and by all means, i would love to support local companies but for $1100 AUD shipped, its pretty hard to pass up.

Picks ahoy!!!

I can see this is going to become the LS1 motorcycle forum project bike.

Do you know if the engine management was remapped when the cans and filter were put in. That'll make a bigger difference again. The cans and filter allow it to breathe better, but it has to be re mapped so it takes in and farts out bigger gulps of air. Probably a good time to get it dyno tuned if you've got the time and money.

The states rock when it comes to auto parts. I was chasing a K&N filter for my 4WD. Rocket Industries, being the Australian distributor, just didn't give a toss. Told me it was not in the country probably never would be. Week and a half later arrived on my door step via internet shopping. Our auto part industry make it very hard on themselves. Oh yeah, the part in the catalogue here $600. I paid $180 US. Same with SCUBA gear I buy, 3 days door to door from the US and less than half the price. Is this just a volume thing, or is someone in Aus getting very rich from us boys that like our toys?

Akro exhausts = the shznit

Know what you mean about buying from the US - I just bought (and fitted) a full Akrapovic Evolution raceline system (that's the one with the oval can that goes under the tail) for just under $1500 shipped to my door from Minnesota I think. Akro exhausts truly are a work of art. You've probably shed about 4-5 kilos from the bikes weight too.

Nice chicken strips btw

Bastard!!

Im taking it easy on the 10 for a while! Not a lot of places i feel confident to get the lean angle to rub them off on the streets. It will happen tho.....it will happen. :moon:

Consider getting yourself down to Philip Island with the Australian Superbike School. You'll learn more in 10 minutes with them than you would in 10 years fluffing about on the road with people who think they can ride.

I did it back in the mid 90's. Before school, I was getting around the island in just over 2 mins on my zx6. During school, I was doing about 2.10s with no brakes (not aloud to use them). Once I was aloud to use my brakes, low 1.50's. I did a few course's, none of them came close to this one. If one day you feel the urge to race, they can take you all the way to that level. However brass balls the size of coconuts are not supplied.

The other plus, pretty sweet to be learning to ride fast on Australia's best bike circuit, rather than some pox lumpy track or oversized vacant car park.

More mods!!

Had the wheels polished the other day!! Farking impressed at the finish on them!! Spent a short while the other day fitting the Ozzy knobs and decided to do some extensive weight reduction on the bike while i was at it. Ala, removal of the pillion pegs! She is a whole 1,5kg lighter now....although, the ozzy knobs were probably about the same weight!! Still waiting for the damn shorty levers and braided brake lines!

I dont know if mine shoot flames. Im usually looking in the general forward direction when im booting it! :) I hope they do! Although, I think theres enough flames on this bike already. :)

The chain lube in the earlier pix are from the Kawasaki mechanic. Silkolene. CRAP. Spent the next day scrubbing the chain with kero and a toothbrush. I normally use Motul. Trust me, its clean now!!

Tune in next week for braided brake lines, CRG shorty levers and possibly some rearsets.....maybe a rear seat cowl......:) :)

Hi, great looking bike.

I know what you mean when it comes chain lube. I would have gone ape at the guy for doing that especially as lube and tires dont mix. wonder if they would have replaced the bike if you went down the road as a result of it. (heaven fobit i wouldnt wish that on anyone)

do a search for woodcraft on the net and get the reverse shift pattern kit for the bike. no more trying to get your foot under the lever when laid over to get the next gear.

You could always go for a billet quick action throttle as well, no more going for the second grab of the throttle to open it up. I got mine through a company here in Adelaide and it has made mine alot more sensitive/responsive, was bout a 100 bucks. or i could always find my Domino one that i was going to use that is here if you interested.

Rearsets - you're kinda spoiled for choice at the moment. Gilles, Arata, Vortex, Sato, Woodcraft etc all make rearsets for most current model Kwakas...the Satos are at the top end of the scale pricewise.

I've just fitted Vortex rearsets to the 636 and ergonomically they're heaps better, with nice spiky, grippy pegs (no foot slipping!).

The 10's looking pretty good! Getting chain lube off the rear rim is a pain in the a$re.

Are you guys able to fill us in on where you are getting the exhausts from the States? I'm looking for some cans for the Blackbird.

Cheers fellas!

I bought mine off ebay - the US ebay that is - just do a search and you'll come up with heaps but bloke I bought mine off was a powerseller, I think it was an actual motorbike shop that sells stuff on ebay as a sideline.
