Well, the car went in on thursday for the clutch and ripshift install however there were some dramas with the clutch not disengaging which require it to be sent back to queensland.
The drama didnt end there though, as my stock clutch was showing obvious signs of abuse at the hands of its previous owner and had big, fat hotspots all over it - Gary told me that it would be a waste of time putting it in, even if only for a couple of weeks as it was pretty far gone.
This left me with no car to get around in and an immobile hunk of metal taking up space in his shop, so Chev came up with a completely unexpected solution to my problem - he went in on his day off and installed the old clutch out of his VY to get me back on the road till my twin plate comes back - outstanding bit of service that and i cant thank you enough Gaz!

As far as the ripshift goes - its not really what i was expecting, but i absolutely love it!
I was expecting it to be nice and smooth, however while it is still a bit notchy it seems that i only have to move the shifter about an inch for it to find the next cog - fantastic bit of kit!

Cheers for getting me back on the road so quickly Gary - dead set champion!

i owe you a few

Imagine what an industry it would be if half the people in it were as good and helpfull as Gary.
His work is second to none. But, since when does he get a day off, never heard of that one..

What, he only went in on his day off and installed his old clutch?
I would have expected him to lend you the nice clubby sitting out the front for a week or 2.
Jokes aside, the bloke is a champ. Pitty he doesn't want to set up shop in Perth.

No worries Adam. The ACE clutch twin plate option5 sure feels good with "light" pedal feel and excellent progessive take up. It feels like she has plenty of bite but with no hint of on/off action which one might expect from a performance clutch. Look at www.aceclutch.com.au for more details. I will get some pics up soon

You're spot on with the pedal feel gary - my 180sx and vs clubbie both had "performance" single plate clutches in them and both had very firm pedals.
The ACE option 5 twin plate has (and no BS here) a lighter than stock pedal feel. Although its still bedding in and i havent given it any sort of a touch up, it bites extremely well while offering enough slip to ease the car off the line in traffic.
It does have a tiny bit of shudder (sometimes) when taking off from a dead stop, however i'm confident that once its got a few km on it that should sort itself out.

cheers,

Adam
I'll keep you posted
