My old VX SS runs a 11.2@128mph in street tyres!

Well about 3-4 weeks ago I sold my SS to a local young bloke who is over the moon with what he got.

At the last WSID track day (a couple of weeks back I think) he took it out for a run and ran a best of 11.2@128mph on normal street tyres!!

Not bad for a car that was tuned over 2 years ago and hasn't seen the dyno since (except for a dyno day at sames).

This sure is a testament to Sam's tuning capability's!!

For those that don't know its a Tiger Mica VX SS M6 just fitted with a Vortech V2 SQ-Trim running 8.5psi,cooler and 918 value springs along with a Extrame clutch and 3.7 diff gears.(I'm sure some there might remember it?)

Sounds similar to the time Rob got in BlownCV8 when that was making around 380 odd rwkw on full slicks, so I'm inclined to agree with the thoughts that it was exaggerated a little.

Hmmmmmm......... 11.2@128mph on normal street tyres? Did you get to see his time slip and if you did, was it really his? Something like that on street tyres you'd be looking for atleast a 1.6-1.7sec 60'er and I find that very hard to fathem!

Mot sure to be honest,when he told me I ask him 5-6 times if he meant 11.2 or 12.2 and he said 11.2.
He was racing his brother who has the yellow LJ Torana with a 355 stroker that was running 11.1 but then had a pass with NOS and broke into the 10s and was told to disconnect the bottle or go home.

After I got off the phone I was still thinking I some how miss understood him so I sent him a text and ask what MPH and he sent back 128mph.

I can see where you guys are coming from when being doubtful as I'm the same in a way but he doesn't seem like the kind of person to BS.(then again I don't know him that well)

He doesn't live far from me so I'm going to demand time slips next time I see him.
If I get them I will scan them and post them up.

Saw it in the car park but dont think it ran.... on street tyres? i ran mine @ wisid a week or to ago now p/d blower 400rwhp and stock clutch on street tyres and the best i ran was a 13.33@115mph before the clutch started playin up, but then again im no quater mile wizard :)

I was in and out of my car on the day. I saw it in the car park but didn't see it run. I think the only tiger mica car to run on the day was a ute. I could only muster a 12.2 on MT's in an auto. Not 11.2 on streets in a M6. He must sure know how to peddle that thing.

As I said ... he didn't have a ticket for the day, and without a ticket he wouldn't get a race number through scrutineering, without a race number there is no way he would get on the strip.

Not to mention that no one saw this happen ? I don't actually recall anyone running 11.2 @ 128 on street tyres ... does anyone else ?

Well I just got off the phone to him to conform details.

I ask him what time he ran and he said it was late in the afternoon,also said he wasn't going to run it but somehow got a ticket and had two runs.
He said he ran just after "the big black thing ran a 8.9".

He will be sending me a time slip soon,also said there was someone taking photos and got some shots of his car running so why ever that was should have some pics.

Once I get I will scan it and post it up.

we tried to get a ticket in the morning for my mates 1200 dato. all the places were taken though so it didnt happen. also 11.2 in an M6 on street tyres seems pretty nuts... not saying im a hectic mad racer or anything but my car makes 400+rwkw and i only managed 125mph

Good to see you have been paying attention Drew,that pretty much sums it up except one thing.

I'm guessing not EVERYONE that would have been at the meet is on this forum so your comment on "not anyone seen it run" isn't very true.
My question is was anyone that is reading this thread there till closing and watch every car that done a pass?

Like I said i can see why everyone would be doubtful because I would be the same (well maybe I am a little) but I guess we will see if/when I get some time slips.

The "big black beast" he speaks of is the Russo Performance/Sergen GTS which actually ran 9.9@139.

The only car i know of that comes close to this blokes claim is hardcore ls1 with an 11.1 on true street tyres...but he wasnt there...and he normally runs high 9s @ 146mph with slicks!
This car is also Tiger in colour though...maybe old mate confused his car with someone elses? :confused:

Were you happy with the car whilst you owned it?
Is the new owner happy with the car (by all reports yes)?

Regardless of the time this car run if the answer to both these questions is yes than that's all the really matters and good on you both for enjoying your respective cars as that is what it is all about.

Back on topic what power and weight was the car when you owned it, around 330rwkW IIRC.

There was no scruteneering "late in the day", as I said earlier, WSID wouldn't let you out without a number, he didn't get a ticket, he didn't have number, he didn't run AT OUR DAY ... I can guarantee that !!!

The big black thing didn't run 8.9 ... as Rick stated, it ran 9.9. Also it didn't do it late in the afternoon, it did it just after lunch.

I was there until the very end, this car didn't run at our private day. The story has so many holes in it, if he produces a time slip from the 12th August it wasn't his. There was a twin turbo EA running around those times, on drag tyres, and Dunc's Monaro was running those times but not quite that MPH ... on drag tyres again.

Agree 100%!! I ran mine when I had 336rwkw on streeties at AIR on the way home to Darwin and all I could achieve was a 12.9@112mph! Even with MT Radials with 424rwkw I could only manage 12.005@118mph here in Darwin! 2.1sec 60footers, I just have too much tyre spin off the line! So an 11.2 is very highly exadurated! Tell him to get his hand off it! Would be a good story for his grandkids until they were old enough to know it is impossible! Ha!!

yeah i was thinking, it was mainly stalling and i think i seen it make one pass which was a 12 from memory.
