Thats not payload Mungrel, thats towing capacity. He means how much can he put in the tray.

In a VY I believe its about 700kg from memory but is very dependant on tyre choice. A BA falcon with 17" tyres is only 440kg. The Omega VE is 630kg on 17" steelies, SSV 550kg with 19's.

Im going off a 2 min conversation with a Holden bloke at the VE ute release witha heap of beer in me so take the figues as a guess at best.

My bad,
I'm pretty certain its 650kg in an SS, with the standard utes (pre ve i'm talking) carrying 800kg.

Might go out to my car and grab the manual.

As Voodoo said, tyre and wheel choice is a big factor.
From memory utes with the 15" pursuit wheels need a tire load rating of 95. (although it could be 94.)

Manual or Auto?
Genuine towbar?

My VZ SSZ manual had a sticker on the tow bar and drivers door sill that said 1200kg manual and 1600 kg auto. The owners manual said 1600kg for both. I had a genuine tow bar fitted, the removable square tongue type.

The car towed a 1400kg boat no problems, pulling it off the boat ramp was another story.
Mmm the smell of burning clutch and rubber...

Hence why I now have an Adventra...

:lmao: now thats funny! sorry i shouldnt laugh but damn haha. Still, on the bright side, at least the 1400kg boat didnt drag the 1600kg ute into the water... lol

No you are right, but it was pretty #$%^ing close. Slippery ramp, decent load, no traction control, OEM clutch... it was all against me.

I figured I would call it a day with the ute :bawl: and thats why I got the adventra. Plenty of space, all the luxuries and AWD.

It's no problem draging it out nowdays, but I do miss the sound of a V8 with a full Sureflo 3.5" system.

I had 2 tonnes of Haines Hunter behind my SS Thunder yesterday, testing a new brake install on a clients' trailer...

Not a problem in the world...

sure as hell knew it was there though!
