I'm after a diff to fit my FJ Holden and was looking at modifying a VN-VP V8 LSD diff to suit, how do I know what to look for when trying to buy one?

The diff from the Commodore will need to be shortened to fit under the FJ. A better option is to use the diff center from an early torana. They can be found in LSD and will fit straight into the stock FJ housing. From memory, the axles are also the same apart from spline numbers.

If you do end up going that way ,it might pay to grab the Torana tailshaft too, to get rid of the early yolk & bolt through uni, and use the 'U' bolt arrangment.
Edit: you may just be able to change the 2 caps and use the FJ shaft , cant remember

Yep, good pint Tonner, I'd forgotten about that.... even after being stranded at 2 in the morning with half a yolk on the ground under the car....
