Already tried the search button for all the regulars on here lol but I couldn't find any answers. I've basically already removed the spoiler and filled the 4 bolt holes with rubber grommets from Clark Rubber. My question is however, what are you guys using to fill the LED plug hole, as its alot bigger and not deep enough to squeeze a rubber grommet into due the boot mould covering half the hole from underneath, cheers in advance...

Can't help with that, but have you wired up a high level brake light to replace the one that was in the rear wing? If not your vehicle doesn't meet ADR's and is easily spotted by police.

You should be able to get a bigger grommit from somewhere like super cheap auto, if you are going to have the holes welded up and painted later you can always just use electrical tape - its worked for me.

As for losing a light, yeah you can get done but i havent in the last year with out mine. But does any one know if the light from the back of the monaro rear window can be fitted simply??

In your case, with any luck the rear window brake light may be there (as the monaro doesn't have a rear wing standard) and just needs a bulb. With SS and other models that come with a rear wing, the rear window brake light has been totally removed and the retrofit, while possible, isn't a matter of add a bulb. I can't recall what model holden started totally removing the brake light, but I'm sure someone will.

ive found the right size grommet to fit the hole however it cant be pushed in due the to the underside metal moulding of the boot, which covers half the hole, thanks for the replys...

Just slice one side of the bottom of the grommet with a razor and it will fit. As extra sealing a smear of silicon sealant in the holes before you insert the grommets will also help and can easily be removed later.

I went to Auto One and got a bigger rubber part to fit in there you just have to ask the customer service personnel.

I had a box of grommets I used so I just found one that fit.

I've had my spoiler off for 1.5 years and haven't had an issue with the brake lights, I use my gears a lot to slow down.

Hey Luke, did you look into replacing the rear windscreen before removing the spoiler? The reason i ask is because i'm wondering what the cost of an "exec" replacement screen would be.

I want the exec rear end look without the implications that may or may not come with it's removal.

:)

Hey Darren,

Nope I didn't look into it, if I ever have a problem I think i'll just replace the spoiler back on.

Luke

Removed mine a couple of months ago and purchased the grommets. However mine leaks water. I have been told not to use silicon; so does anyone know of any other sealer i could use.

If you are serious about keeping it off, get it welded up.

I have tape over the gromets in mine which has worked but that was during the draught.

Ok thanks mate,i will have to look into it myself then unless someone else knows the answer :) The reason being is i will be having the holes welded and boot re-sprayed and getting the rear mount break light fitted up.

Call me paraniod but i wouldn't want any dramas with insurance in the unlikely event of being rear ended.

Ok i've just got off the phone with Windscreens O'Brien (first place that i Googled) and i can now understand why most of us would take the easy option of using blanking grommets and keeping the spoiler, and not have the rear windscreen replaced to legally cover ones backside in the event of an insurance claim.

 $497 supplied and fitted (GST included) with a Lifetime Warranty on fitment/leakage.Not to mention rear parcel shelf brake light!

I will continue to shop around though ;)

Ok just an update on the rear windscreen replacement if you want to do it all legal like when removing the rear spoiler.

I got quotes from another 4 companies and the price difference is roughly $15 between them all.Now i don't know what a rear brake light mount would cost from Holden but i'd guess around the $70 mark and then there's the welding of the holes in the boot and respray $250-$300 ish.

Makes for quite an expensive exercise to do it properly/legally.But then if it's peace of mind your after with no insurance hassles down the track if your unlucky enough to be rear ended, then it just may work out a "cheaper" option if the insurer bales on you because of the removal of the spoiler.

Any thoughts?

I'm thinking of taking the rear spoiler off my car but it seems like a pain i the ass so I might look around for phantom coloured boot lid on ebay and swap them, that way if I want the spoiler back on I just have to change boot lids again..

i bought a Third LED brake light from Ebay, sticks the the rear windscreen and wired it down to where the "Exec" brake light would be as the wiring is all there.
