KPM now have a no-drone system, full 304 grade stainless (best there is I believe, some full stainless systems are lower grade), ceramic coated Pacies and Mega Cats for $4290 all up. I'm pretty sure delivery and fitting would be around the $400 mark or less.
I have one of their earlier systems which everybody says sounds awesome, but it does drone. Am hoping to get one of their new systems shortly (probably only catback as have GTS extractors already and can't justify the cost of the Pacies for only a few kw). Plus they hang lower.
Definitely worth contacting the guys from KPM!

Im getting a 2.5in system put on tomorrow from Exhaust Technology, who supply KPM. It will be a no-drone system, hand made, cat back only, 304 stainless, 3.5 in quad tips. Price $2400.
Ive heard that there is not much of a gain doing the full system as opposed to a cat back system. Apparently the standard manifold and cats are quite free flowing, so Ive heard. So maybe you could save a bit of dosh in that area and put it towards something else.

if the extractors are pacemakers and the cat back is a stainless steel one then $4650 is the going rate.

Terry (MCE) from Mindarie Custom exhaust had a post that explained the reason...will try and find it

Yeah everyone seems to be PRO brad :) so i have no problem getting the work done by him i was really just wondering about cost and as i have never put a full system on before i really just wanted to check i had asked for the right type of system and stuff Brads system is a Hybrid i have no idea what a the diffrence between his system and a 3" Di Fillipo is or if there really is any. Drone would be a issue and he is able to take all drone out so thats a big plus

The best way is to try and line up some different systems to listen to in person before you buy. I know it's difficult being in Mt Isa but I'm sure some Forum members or sponsors will help out when you go down to Brisvegas so you can make the right choice.
What sounds nice to me may sound shite to the next person.
What may drone to me may not to the next person and so on...
I would love to hear a 3" Di Fillipo on a VE just to ease my mind. Anyone in Perth fitted one yet ?
Good luck

I work in the sign industry and we use stainless alot.. 304 grade is a non-marine grade stainless.. still great quality.. but 316 stainless is your marine grade, good enough for anything you throw at it especially while at sea, not that you'll be driving in the ocean anytime soon.... and obviously, better quality means bigger price.
I'm not sure if any manufacturers exhausts are made with 316.. but im certain you could custom make an exhaust with 316 stainless 80, 90 or 100 mm tube..

OK, fair enough - you'll certainly know better than me. I was under the impression from what I'd read that the lower the number the better the quality but that's obviously not true.
For those in Melbourne I should have the new KPM system on in a fortnight or so if anybody wants to hear it. :)

Actually.. there is no "best" quality stainless, because its all got to do with properties within the metals and how they relate to the product's exposure to weather, heat, cold, water etc..
Surgical stainless is great for knives and surgical instruments... but you wouldnt make an exhaust with it..
It's likely that 304 is just the best grade exhaust you can buy.. maybe the exhaust gurus found that 316 sounds too tinny or that 304 is better with heat.. i dunno but thats my shpiel.. :D

Hi,
Will look forward to the result of th "NO DRONE" KPM system Wonky.
I know you are pretty fussy like me also, so no drone is what I want but with a nice idle & acceleration note.
Look forward to sound files & pics, etc.
I am also very fussy when it comes to the tips fittment on the rear. There is nothing worse than shit fitting exhaust tips, so I will be keen to get your feedback.
Cheers Brad

No problems Brad. If I forget to mention the tips or anything else you'd like to know once I have it fitted just remind me. I haven't bothered getting a sound file yet but must try and get one before this system comes off and then again with the updated system so I can compare from the outside of the car.
As far as the tips on the KPM system go, I love 'em!
They are very slightly angled out but you only ever really notice that in photos, not in real life. Nice and big! Sit nice and central and never hit the body, though I assume that's more to do with how well the fitter positions them.

This may have been covered before but why are VE systems so expensive?
Because its the latest and greatest thing "at the moment" and everyone knows that most people who have coughed up $50K+ for a new car are usually going to be able to drop a few extra dollars on an exhaust. You just have to say it has some new 1 piece "technology", or new "custom mufflers" or "NO DRONE" etc etc etc
Honestly, for example, if xforce can do a twin 3" for a VZ that you can walk into a shop and have fitted for under $600, then it does NOT cost $2300 for a twin 2.5" system for a VE :flipoff:
Its just the same as paying $1000++ for someone to upload a file into your PCM :jester:
LSx mods = bend over and lube up :vpo:

Has anyone seen the $2800 ST deal for stainless cat back exhaust, cai and tune. I would have thought this to be a bargain compared to the prices some people are quoting here. It's only a cat back but from reports, extractors only add a few rwkws on the VE. Anyone care to comment or offer a comparison?
Then again, a couple years ago I paid $3500 for a
* Custom Tri-Y 1.75" primaries, HPC coated
* Twin 2.5" stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust with X-pipe
* Modified cats to 2.5"
* Custom stainless steel rear muffler
all mandrel bent, for my R8. But I guess that was then. When I get a VE, I'll probably go the less expensive road.
Cheers,
Rick.
