for all the guys out there who are asking which oil to use in there ls1,well ive always used mobil 10w/40 from new,after reading a lot of threads in here i finally changed to magnatech 10w/40 and am glad i did,deffinatly quiter on start up,virtually no engine noise at all compared with the moble,ill keep ya all posted if there is any oil consumtion.

I went from magnatec to edge 10/60 and it is much quieter with the xer lobes Daz .

Another vote for Magnatec.......:)..although pride of the fleet is on a strict diet of Castrol 10/60..

Yah. Mine is definately much noisier with the cam. It has a synthetic oil in it at the moment, redline I believe. May change it to Castrol edge though...

im running a 224/228/112 comp in mine and i cant believe how much quieter the engine is,like i said has very minimal engine noise on cold start.the engine was never really noisy anyway but ts deffinatly quieter now,well worth the swap in my opinion.

i use FUCHS GTO 10w/30 synthetic in my L98 6.0ltr VE SS ..i change the oil every 5000km and the oil is always clean with no start up engine noise..
a very well priced synthetic motor oil @ around $44.00 per 5ltr.

speaking of oils,
has any one heard of and or used the oil products called , Royal Purple.
a local Machanic uses it and swears by it , and now have seen it addvitised in MAGs.

Has any one used this oil before.

I use the same oil in my VE SS as I did with my VY SS, Fuchs Titan Super GTO 10W30. I have always found Fuchs to be a great product at a very reasonable price. Bought my last lot from Bursons but am only changing it every 10000 KM’s. Still find it relatively clean even after the 10 K.
