If you purchase a low k well looked after item you will be in love!
My boss has one and even know he is purchasing a new model is still keeping the old model as he sais it is the most comfy ride he has had ..and he has owned many a nice car.
I travelled to Airlie Beach for new years in it with 4 other adults and it was mint!
His kids love the dvd,s and room in the rear too.
And it rolls on 22,s and runs 10,s!!!!!!

I recently bought my WL Stato. I didn't go the Caprice as I have three kids and the backseat is really only any good for two (especially for lond distances). I would have gone a Caprice apart from this and ended up getting a much lower milage Stato for the same money so I was happy with that.
As far as the car goes, I love it. Heaps of room for the kids, set of wheels, springs, tint, cat back and edit and they no longer feel or look like gampas car.
Heaps of power and even with lowered springs and 18's is still a very good ride. I stuck to 18's to keep some reasonable ride quality as alot of roads I drive on a fairly average.
Don't hold back. If you like them there is no reason to hesitate.

Can't get better value for money, especially when you are buying second hand. The levels of luxury are unsurpassed at the price point. I'm surprised these cars get overlooked so often by familes when they present so much comfort. Buy a low km example (15,000km or less per year) and you will become a big fan of these great cars.
The only thing to be aware of is the fact that these cars are very popular as premium taxis, so avoid high km examples, because chances are they've been used as chauferred hire cars and have consequently not been looked after as well as they should have been.
The other thing I should mention is that the WL is a great bit of kit that surpasses the WM in some ways...the stock sports exhaust that was the best sounding stock exhaust short of the CV8Z in those days, the sports suspension which the current model misses out on (gone back to being soft), and the longer length over the current model. It is a beautifully imposing model, full of bling and substance.
Go the 6.0 litre and you're in motoring heaven.

theres a very nice looking WL Statesman International in the classifieds section of the forums
For Sale in VIC : 2005 model WL Statesman International (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=82545)
I bought a WL 6 litre Statesman about 12 months ago - fantastic car on a long trip - drove ours to the Sunshine Coast this year in preference to our CV8 Monaro which we have taken to Qld for the last 3 years - was a much nicer drive - quieter, smoother, much easier driving and the 6.0 lt V8 felt much more lively than the 5.7 in the CV8. I would've bought a Caprice if one was available for the extra toys.
Only concerns are a whinny gearbox in first gear and the usual driveline vibration in 1st and 2nd - not uncommon Holden problems.
We recently drove to Melb from Canb with 4 people and luggage at a reasonable speed an got an average of 10.3 lts per 100 kms on BP ultimate 98
