Based on what was said in this post by bouka (here (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=1012607&postcount=37)) I've messed around and come up with this.

The calipers, yellow, are not to the script but this is what we'll see if the intel's good.

Love your work, but I hope not, not the strongest statement HSV could make.

They could do a GTR spec clubbie with GTS wheels, Red or Black, sat nav, sun roof, leather etc and call it a special edition, but sandstorm is hardly loin stirring (for a special edition, Kawpow, or one of the new hero colours yes) sandstorm is a Senator colour!!!!!!!!.

i dont mind the colour actually... but how good do the R8 19's look in shadow chrome, might have to mention it to the old man when he gets his white R8

The calipers will be black. HSV are offering no extras ie Sat Nav, Sunroof, as standard on this anniversary model. R8 specs only. Add ons all extras. $$ are as with R8, all speculation untill we see the car anyway. Talk off a black stripe also, this will make a huge difference to the final look if I am right.

bouka
08-09-2007, 09:04 AM
Leather as standard and 4K premium over base R8. No yellow callipers.

dangs
08-09-2007, 09:13 AM
When you price them both up, standard R8 & 20th Anni, to get them to the same specs you only have 1K difference. 2 me if your in the market anyway & can get hold of one take a chance it may be work something.:)

I asked why when i heard the color as well. They wanted something different and it looks the goods in the flesh apparently. I think it will look good but will wait for final judgement until we see it.

I must say that my experience with HSV was exceptional, a great bunch of people. A few teathing problems with mine but pre delivery service was outstanding from the factory.

Great choice dangs, no doubt you will enjoy every second once it arrives. I know it may not be the color that would have been first on many peoples list but to put it into perspective, white would not have been at the top of the list either. And we all know how good white looks in the VE HSV's. I will wait to see it before i decide.

This Color isnt that bad, it has to be better than buying one in that Purple/Pink color called Morpheous, and im sure when the Walkinshaw 1st came out in a metallic pale blue everyone said that same thing.

It will grow on everyone and isnt so outlandish that it will date quickly like the recent colors, like Tiger, Hothouse Green, Cossmo, and that Aqua color on the Monaro's (sorry to anyone with those colors), just making a point.

WTF???

What has the model got to do with anything?? more people are going on about the colour of the car & the fact it is no more special than a standard model, leather aside.

I have had 5 HSV commo's over the years, still have the R8, when I buy a VE it will not be in this colour. The wife has a VE Calais V, am I ok to comment??

I think any special model should come out with more fruit than a stock spec car.

I've got a few HSVs ... and a VE ... can I comment ???

Average, no different to any other R8 IMO. To be special it needs different rims at an absolute minimum, something different power wise would be even better. If no LS7 how about a supercharger ... Vauxhall can do it in the UK.

I'll stick with what I have for now, not real impressed if that's all it is.

I cannot believe that the specs being talked about in this thread constitute either HSV's 20th anniv. "speciaL", or the "surprise" for the Sydney Motor Show--if it does, it is nothing more than another "sticker special"!
Having said that, I believe HSV will have something "special" for Syney--I don't know what it is--but it would want to be better than what has been talked about here. Maybe an HSV S/W?
Cheers, Pickles.

I reckon this:

- Maloo will be HSV showpiece (like Grange last year)
- 20th Anniversary special edition
- Maybe a concept from Holden. (I'm thinking a wagon or coupe) Maybe Camaro.

HSV "Sticker" specials aren't that special any more. There has been more of them than regular models in the last 8 years...

I think that HSV had it right with the R8, GTS, Senator and Grange.

Add an R8 20th, an alleged Senator wagon, probably some other bullshizen VE Test Series 2 that may be MY08 with different rims and adjustable MRC suspension with their not-see-nor-heard for years DDI setup and some other random sticker special and things start to get confused, much like this rambling sentence.

Keep it simple HSV. If your going to make a special edition, make it friggin desirable at least. Don't just do some light-on cosmetic 5 dollar mods. Look up what special means in the dictionary, then think about what special means in terms of Australian performance/muscle car history.

Yes I was a bitch earlier in the piece & slagged some shit because I am pissed off, & Yes I do agree with most of you.:bawl: Colour is a shit grandpa colour, GTS rims should be a given not just change colour on normal R8 rims. Leather standard & badging is the only real extra feature of this so called "special" car!!! Was told it was going to be a "very special vehicle" & that they would be gone very quickly so being stupid paid deposit there and then, drove 3 hours to dealer next day to sign up then find there is not that much to special about it. I am being told they don't really know untill it's released but I would believe the rumors more than anything. I will keep my fingers crossed!

Great chop Geary !

I think the GTS/Senator wagon will have lights like you have already. I'd say the tailgate width would stop the use of the HSV sedan rear lights.

I agree my wife works for ford and she has got pictures of the new FPV T/Tory coming out at the end of the year with the new FPV's which looking at the front has a lot of the new HSV look. As for the GTS Wagon the taillights look a bit like the one in that picture but i was more looking at the car as a whole sorry.

It could be a total coincidence but Rick Kelly's car (sponsered by HSV) had a big HSV 20th anniversary thing painted on the bonnet of the car. The colour of the image was the exact same colour that was posted in this thread on the 20th annaversy R8??

Ok maybe a 3 way.

The Sandstorm Clubbie for mum and dad. (this is a definate)
The radical looking Maloo for the sports ute market (this is a definate)
A prototype GTS-R to "gauge" interest, limited edition available March 2008.

We have been told no GTS-R this year, so that means next year, but they can announce it this year.

And for an outsider punt. a HSV Camaro.

You know what, a lot of members on this board are pissed off with the way the board has gone, particularly in the last 12 months since the VE came along. The influx of first time LSx owners asking questions that have been repeatedly covered in the last 3 or 4 years is frustrating to many. Also the site being bombarded by teenagers (some of whom don't even have a licence) flooding the place with photoshop threads and pleading to be validated is insane.

- If you are going to post.... read the thread first!
- If you are going to start a new thread.... search first!
- If you want to be validated enter a dyno day, go and race at the drags or signup for a track day. Meet some members, make some friends and they'll validate you!

Seeing as though the LS2 will not meet future emissions, it must be replaced by the LS3 before July 2008. Fact of life.

The LS2 is already superseeded in the US.

LS7 will never be an across the board introduction if HSV have decided to retain the dry sump. It will be a special 1 of 100 or so deal and used as a flagship model.

Wagons have been done before, Maloos have been done before, Race track specials have been done before (VZ Clubsport R).

This is for new models introduced after that date ... the LS2 meets the current emissions. This is why Ford will release an unchanged engine lineup before this deadline. The LS2 will probably be replaced some time in 2009 with VF. In either case, the LS2, LS3 and LS7 are all a part of the Gen4 architecture group and would all require similar modifications to meet new emissions (cats etc).

I did some surfing of the world wide web to find some juicy goss for the conspiracy theorists!

The three wildest rumours I could find were from slightly more "ricier forums":
1. Australia's first performance turbo charged diesel HFV6.
2. The first biodiesel performance car.
3. HSV's first twin turbocharged HFV6 (a la Torana concept engine)

Now we can all be disappointed when the announcement is made

I dont think any of those would make it "the biggest moment" in HSV history ... you have to remember, the C4B represented a bigger investment than an off-the-shelf LS7 in 2000 and they developed the coupe 4 (holden had no commodore/monaro 4wd available). This "moment" has to be pretty serious to be the "biggest" ...

Don't forget the C4B dropped straight into the chassis .

LS7 is a whole different engineering task  For one example... where do you place the oil tank and how does it affect crash testing

HSV have been known to "exaggerate" whenever a new model comes out :hide:

Thats true ... I would be happy with an LS7 being in the VE as the biggest event so far.

ive ordered a 20th anniversay based on the following info from the dealer.. basic clubby in sandstorm, 19" chrome shadow rims, leather interior with 'tasteful' light urban detailing (hopefully it is only stitching) anniversary badging and i was told MRC included! got in early picked my build number as 05 - just have to add satnav as a dealer fitted option..

Nice. Very interested to see what she looks like. The MRC included is bloody good. I suppose if it is just a special edition with limited build then it will not devalue the GTS but it makes me wonder, why not just have a 20th anniversary GTS rather than Clubsport.

It's 20 years since Holden Special Vehicles bowed at the Sydney motor show, and it's planned an epic road trip to mark the occasion and spearhead its assault on this year's big race.

Check the paintwork! It’s been specially commissioned by HSV to mark its 20th Anniversary. You’ll see at both this year’s Bathurst 1000 and Sydney motor show, as well as on the cars as they’re driven from Melbourne to Mount Panorama and then to the show.

Yes, it’s 20 years since Tom Walkinshaw and former HSV managing director John Crennan unveiled the VL Commodore-based Group A “Walkinshaw” at the 1987 Sydney motor show. Or, more specifically, they showed a full-size cardboard model of the car – the real thing didn’t hit the road until the following March.

Still, officially speaking, it’s HSV’s big 2-0, and the special paint job and the five E Series Clubsport R8s that are wearing it marks both the occasion and HSV’s 2007 assault on the Supercheap Bathurst 1000 weekend.

The cars will be driven from Melbourne to Bathurst where they’ll take part in CAMS-sanctioned hot laps and star in the V8 drivers parade before the big race. They’ll then be driven from Bathurst to Sydney for the motor show, which starts on October 11.

They shouldn’t be hard to miss…

It could be their own showrooms and HSV finance. Breaking out on thier own.

I saw one of these 20th anniversary models the other day and I am surprised to admit that I actually like it! Lowered a bit with a nice set of black rims I think I could go for it. Anybody else changed their minds after getting used to it or am I talking out of my arse?

I agree Vulture. Seen a couple now and i think they look good. Wouldn't mind the shadow chromed rims on my evoke r8, would look good.

Don't mind the 20th ann. at all.
